  1. The concept of selling high is that a player has an unexpected spike in performance and you try to get another GM to buy into it. This would be like trading Lawrie after his first partial season where people were comparing him and Mike Trout. Trading a guy who has been consistently good most of his career is very different. I feel like this should not need an explanation and it's kind of a pointless thing anyway.
  2. I don't find his comments here miss the mark much, if at all, though. What AA was doing was very unsustainable. People should be very excited to have Mark Shapiro with a workable budget and I find that they are not to be saddening.
  3. Halladay was not a sell high. He was the best pitcher in baseball at the time and had been for years. After the trade, he got even better.
  4. Yes, you really should.
  5. Gonzalez is the only guy who fits that description.
  6. don't listen to them njh, it was o2
  7. I see you've gone off the deep end.
  8. Probably come out in the black on that deal overall but the last couple years probably won't be pretty. Tough to say.
  9. Honestly, the issue is that the other players are jealous of how good Bryce is at age 22. I honestly feel this is where all that "he has to earn blah blah" ******** comes from. That players were willing to support a supreme douchebag like Papelbon over Harper (whom I really don't even find to be overly arrogant, just honest and team oriented) is very telling. Remember, he was hailed as the next huge thing when he was like 17. I bet players enjoyed watching him fail expectations until he shat all over them this year.
  10. Seems a bit light, no? I'd think it would take maybe 8/200.
  11. Do you realize that you're speaking to the most logical person in the world? He did a test and everything, so back off.
  12. Tends to happen when you have no money.
  13. We got raped
  14. I think Orioles fans want Duquette out at this point. Showalter would be the funnier hire. He can replace Cito.
  15. Swisher and Bourn were only poor signings in hindsight. At the time, both appeared to be excellent value contracts for very good players. Just so weird how they both immediately fell off a cliff. Can't think of a time where something like that has happened before.
  16. Idk I find that pretty surprising. It might be scouting director or something but I'd be pretty shocked if Friedman held AA in high esteem.
  17. Lol Jesus christ
  18. Yeah man, the Jays are moving into the modern era, LOL @ u
  19. Apparently people are giving it a shot anyway.
  20. Why would you want Price back? No thanks. I'd much rather buy Heyward if we are willing to buy Price
  21. Yeah, above average ones for a pretty low payroll. He also would have traded Wells at the peak of his value had he been allowed. Godfrey's meddling was a big reason why JPR ultimately was unsuccessful IMO.
  22. Wilner should keep his mouth shut. At some point, realize you are just a casual with the luckiest job in the world and stop acting like some knowledgeable analyst.
  23. JP Ricciardi had better teams for the payroll he was given than pretty much any team AA put on the field. It's ridiculous that people are completely ignoring the implications payroll has on the quality of the team.
  24. Why opine if you're so uninformed? I don't blame people for wishing AA would've stayed but holy f*** at least know what you're talking about somewhat.
