Well, he's a bit weird because I would have normally said yes but his GB rate dropped a ton this year. Fewer swinging strikes and hitters are swinging and making contact a lot more often, both in and out of the zone. His velocity hasn't declined so idk what's up. The White Sox are terrible at everything so it's possible that they gave him bad advice or something.
That's actually a pretty good ratio, lol.
Mike Trout: 31 of 41 homers were solo shots.
Nelson Cruz: 31 of 44
Bryce Harper: 25 of 42
Why do you post something like that when you don't even know it works against the point you're clumsily trying to make?
When they moved him to third for a while a few years ago, he said he felt he serves the team best in the OF but if they needed him elsewhere it was fine. He just didn't like moving around on the fly. So, he's no Ben Zobrist but I think he will understand that he's not the defender he once was (which wasn't special to begin with.)
Heyward gets good reads and takes good routes. He's not a, basically, all speed defender like, say, Pillar is. (disclaimer: Pillar is great but he doesn't always get great reads or take good routes is my point)
How can you be a major league manager and not know that Liam Hendriks and Mark Lowe are your best right handed relievers? Just the mere thought that Gibbons does not know this makes me really question his awareness of the game. Such a basic thing to not know.
I'm not worried about a Heyward deal but I'm not spending big on pitching. I actually also forgot John Lackey is a free agent, I'd definitely go hard after him too. Old and probably won't cost an arm and a leg.
Man just imagine it...
Heyward
Donaldson
Bautista
Encarnacion
Tulowitzki
Martin
Travis
Pillar
Pompey
I'd break the bank for Heyward. Whatever it takes.
True, but this offseason can transfer momentum. If they make a spash this offseason after a playoff appearance when they became the best team in baseball, they could get back into the 4 million attendance range. Has to factor in, plus ad revenue.
Well, obviously I'd prefer Zimmermann to Estrada but there will be a massive difference in cost. I dunno how much Heyward will cost but I'm sure the FO recognizes that he would be the most beneficial acquisition for this team for the price. I'd hate it if they went out and signed Chris Davis or something but I'm pretty sure they won't.
