    If you look around the league alot of good SP are getting shelled in their first start. This is probably to be expected following a shorter spring training. As others have said this is not something to overreact to until we have a larger sample size to draw him.

    Its interesting to note that Tapia actually hits the ball really hard when he elevates his launch angle and doesnt strike out much. The Jays fixed that issue with Vlad, maybe they can unluck some potential by doing it with Tapia. I'm encouraged by the fact that Tapia is coming from the worst organization in baseball which means there is a decent chance he wasn't exposed to any of the stuff the Jays will provide.

    Most athletes put on weight in the early portion of the off-season to build strength and power and then periodize their training to peak around the start of spring training. Players burn a ton of calories in season and don't have many opportunities to weight train ergo why many programs are structured this way.
