  1. Don't tell Wilner or many of the DJF posters that. They get hyper when you burst their balloon. Just enjoy the beautiful Petco Park
  2. This is possible. I suppose picking up a 7 million option is cheaper than spending 2 million on the buyout & finding someone else useful for 5 million. Gibby has done an excellent job managing Lind . Who else can be DH & play 1B that does not need platoon partner. You have to factor in the cost of a platoon DH for Lind.
  3. Jays Talk May 30. First caller Mohammed is upset that the BlueJays allowed RA Dickey to climb mountains like Kilimanjaro in January which he believes hurt his back. Wilner disputes this & says Dickey was fine in spring training. Third caller says Dickey is a clown. Wilner hangs up. Wilner acknowledges that 40-40 is unlikely for the Jays at this point. Wilner concedes that the Jays have lost more games that they have won. I think its refreshing that Wilner concedes the fact that the Jays have lost more games than they have won, yet he irritates me when he bashes fans that want Josh Thole here rather than Blanco. Blanco can catch Dickey. Thole can catch Dickey. Thole has more upside than Blanco. I know that switching from Blanco to Thole does not make the jays a playoff team. However, even Wilner concedes that Thole's OBP would be higher than Blanco's. Why is AA afraid to promote Thole? is he afraid that Blanco would beat him up:)))?
  4. I was a Montreal Expos fan back then , so I can't comment on the Jays 1987 collapse. From a marketing perspective, the poor performance since April 2nd must have an effect on expected ticket sales in June,July,August. I haven't seen Jays TV ratings for May 2013, but they may be down over May 2012.
  5. Very good news. So we can probably see him before Canada Day???
  6. It's hard to take AA's injury predictions seriously. He was on baseball central & told Hayhurst that Lawrie was Day 2 Day & within a few hours he was on the DL. Does anyone expect Morrow to make his next start on time?
  7. Touche! I remember that Wakefield game in May. Millar hit a HR. Next game, Brett Cecil gets blown out. 9 game losing streak.
  8. I regret not keeping my MLB package with Cogeco. I could watch virtually every MLB game on TV. Now, I can turn off the games when the Jays get blown out.
  9. The team's poor performance since April 2nd has made it easier to digest any losses like last night. I think it's very probable that the team will not make the post season, but could end up being 3rd or 4th in the division. If the 2013 Jays had got off to a 27-14 start & then collapsed, fans would be pulling their hair out. A late season collapse by the 2013 Jays would be heartbreaking.
  10. I am curious as to whether fans are more frustrated with the Jays this year than they were in 2009 which was the year they started at 27-14 & finished with 75 wins? In previous years, Jays fans knew that Rogers had a limited payroll, so there was little hope that the team would acquire free agents or trade for established players . On the other hand, we kept hearing about all the prospects in the minor leagues, so periodically we would get to see a players make their MLB debut. As much as this season has been depressing with poor performance since April 2nd, it's fun to see established vets like Melky, Jose & Edwin carry the team to victories. I hope Rogers doesn't pull the plug on AA's payroll budget of $120 million for 2014 Thoughts?
  11. I don't know why AA keeps saying that player X,W, Z will be playing when it's obvious they are hurt. I can't take him seriously when he talks about player injuries.
  12. This is true but can this team stay healthy? Lawrie & Reyes never played together. Morrow & Johnson can't stay healthy. Romero has imploded. I am very baffled how Ricky "healthy" Romero has forgot how to pitch in 1 year. If the "new mechanics" aren't working, why not go back to the "old mechanics" that at least got him pitching in MLB games. Ricky Romero" 2nd half 2012 "would be an upgrade over Sean AA Nolin, Ramon Ortiz, Esmil Rogers whatever canon fodder gets put in the rotation until Happ,& Johnson come back.
  13. Very true. Here's what drives me nuts. AA had no intention of competing for a playoff spot in 2010, 2011 & 2012 ( at least since June 2012 when 3 starters went down). Thus, he had 3 years to find out what Snider could do. Snider was the golden position player prospect. Snider would get off to slow starts & did get hurt after he started heating up. This is a fair criticism of him, but why not see what he could do insted of letting Juan Rivera,Corey Patterson, & Eric Thames play there?
  14. Hayhurst could not understand why Sean Nolin was brought up from AA to pitch. He lasted barely more than one inning & gets sent down. Why not given him a second start if you believe that he can pitch in the MLB? AA's actions are bewildering. Why not use any of the AAA pitchers with options remaining as emergency starters? Isn't that why they are in Buffalo?
  15. That made me laugh. Luckily AA has a compliant media that doesn't question wha he did to Sean Nolin other than Hayhurst.
  16. Last time that happened, he hurt his back & was out for several games. I think it's Derosa at 3B for now. I think Izturis can also play 3B.
  17. That doesn't sound bad, but given how the Jays have underestimated injuries this year, a 15 day DL stint seems likely. Short bench again for a few games.
  18. AA better be careful about annoying the fan base. There is room for Boni & Kawasaki on the team. The team could have back up catcher ( Thole), Kawasaki, Boni & Davis as the bench. Derosa is easily expendable. Chances are that by the time a decision is necessary, one of the OFor INF will be hurt, so no DFA is necessary
  19. Blair should apologize to the fan base if he says anything against Kawasaki. Kawasaki reminds me of that guy in Pretty in Pink who was an exchange student that got drunk & fell out of a tree.
  20. This is an excellent point. I would trust Kawasaki more than most Jays players in a key at bat. He takes a lot of pitches. Once Reyes comes back, AA has to find a spot on the roster for Kawasaki. He would be an excellent back up infielder. Kawasaki plays the game the right way & he could teach a few other Jays teh importance of good at bats
  21. Kawasaki is the new Johnny Mac. A fan favourite who plays above his weight. He should be doing commercials.
  22. This is a classic interview that deserves to be pinned whenever we feel bad about our team. This day will be hereafter known as KAWASAKI Day. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/kawasaki-plays-hero-in-jays-comeback-win/
  23. Kawasaki needs to stay on the team. His AB's are incredible to watch. He is like Ichiro lite. According to Zaun, Lawrie was mad at whoever was on 3rd base for not running on his sac fly. I think it was Lind or Izturis. Zaun is upset that Lawrie was yelling at a teammmate.
  24. KAWASAKI!!!!!!!! Greatest Blue Jay EVER!!!. Are they still chanting his name!!!!!
