  1. Don't agree with this post, but anyone worried Osuna has lost about 2 mph on his fastball?
  2. Yes I know. 50 is an exaggeration...though they're off to a good start. I expect them to finish around 80 wins to be honest.
  3. Well yeah, that's true. But smoak was never going to net us anything, Martin with that salary structure likely not either. Pearce could turn it around by July.
  4. For me the pick is just an added bonus to a 50 win season...the reason I feel it's better is because Shatkins won't have to put the contending front up and Rogers will let them go to work the way they should. ie trading Donaldson etc. If we appear to be in it and play .500 then they have to pretend we have a shot which could delay us being competitive for an extra year or two. Right now with a 3-12 record the only player really with no trade value is joey bats and he could turn it around by July 31st.
  5. I disagree, I think winning 81sh games makes you terrible for years, and there is a 22 year stretch to prove it. Losing 50 this year accelerates the rebuild. Plus people are commenting that Rogers will spend less....I think Rogers needs to see what a shite team does to the bottom line after the $$$ they have been raking in the last two years. When they see that they will realize it's best to rebuild fast and don't be cheap going forward, a good team is much more valuable.
  6. Would you rather this team win 50 games or make it interesting in the summer and finishing at .500?
  7. I hope we win 50 games. I don't know why, but I truly do. Draft pick maybe. Send a message to Rogers they better field a competitive team or they'll make no money maybe. So they don't fool themselves into not unloading on July 31st maybe. I'm ready for a youth movement maybe. Can't pin it down, but I'm hoping for 50.
  8. Depending on Happs injury, with Sanchez out, this thread just became real. Counting down to July 31st. Best thing that could have happened is to suck hard so there is no debating a sell off...well other then being good that is.
  9. I watched Jays in 30 last night and he was on first for at least one inning.
  10. Remember that old Tellez thread that never ended and at the time many people including myself thought was super annoying, from when he was drafted...props to you lovers who loved from day 1!
  11. Bautista is a beast and we all hope he agrees to stay for the two option years. Rowdy and Pompey put in solid 2-3 win seasons and become regulars by May/June. Stroman wins the CY young. Jays lose in ALCS. 2b becomes our biggest problem and we land Dozier at the deadline.
  12. Watching Vlad Jr. Turn into a beast in the minors. Seeing if Pompey can turn things around and be a nice surprise. More playoff baseball! Going to the dome for first time in a LONG time.
  13. Have not been to the dome in at least 12 years, yesterday I got tickets for August in the 200 level...pretty excited, as is my kids! Also get to go in April this year, no tickets yet. Not bad for a west coaster.
  14. No loss of any prospects makes me appreciate the off season more and more by the day. The front office is doing a great job patching together a team to keep the window open while letting the minors build up.
  15. Having said all that, Jose could suck, Martin and Tulo could hit a wall and suck, Travis poor exit velocity could catch up with him, Estrada could break his back, Liriano could be first half Liriano, Sanchez could blow his elbow out, The bullpen could be garbage, Pearce could play 59 games, LF could hit a combined .150....and we could lose 100 games.
  16. Stroman likely better with a stronger knee. Sanchez,Happ, Estrada hopefully equivalent. Liriano better then Dickey. 1b Pearce worse then EE. DH equivalent. 2b equivalent. SS equivalent with hopefully not a s*** first two months. 3b equivalent or better...I think JD was fighting injuries all year. C Martin age regression made up for with no Thole. So equivalent. LF worse unless Pompey figures it out, or Guirell (sp?) Cf equivalent Rf equivalent with real possibility of Jose bounce back. Bullpen is a crap shoot as always. Very similar team, with no loss from the minors= a fairly successful off season that I originally thought was garbage. I'm guessing we play meaningful September baseball which we all begged for, for 22 years, possible wild card.
  17. Who cares how the guy does his hair! I think he's gonna be a stud this year on the mound and that's all that matters.
  18. Good point, and I had no idea Lind put up 2.3 fwar that year! This point made me think of another idea...somehow add a poll to the site where fans can vote who the winning trade was....just for fun and to bring people into site.
  19. Would be cool even if it were very basic....total of $ each team took on, and total of WAR added up amongst traded players over life of contract, with maybe a couple more aspects. Some trades would still be outstanding on winner/loser depending on how long each players contract is still for. ie Donaldson trade would not have a conclusion until the SS we gave up has done his 6 years of service with the As (mind block on his name right now)....but the Vernon Wells trade would have a conclusive winner vs loser. Problem would be extensions...to include the Dickey extension or not for instance. I would think you would if the extension was immediate, but otherwise no.
  20. AA ended 22 years of baseball purgatory, for that we should all be thankful....no matter how he did it.
  21. I tried to channel my inner feminen side and I know girls like personality and power in men as well as looks, so that may have influenced my decision.
  22. King doesn't like my taste in males
  23. Me and GD obviously like powerful successful men in our heterosexual life (at least mine anyway) . If he makes it maybe I vote him higher next year...for now he's a nobody, and frankly that doesn't turn me on.
  24. Worth waiting out the market for a back up catcher, should be able to snag one of those scrubs for one year at approx 1 mil or less in February.
