Question. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a catcher pick off a runner at second base... But I've seen plenty of attempts. I wonder what the ratio is for thrown out to thrown to the outfield and the runner advances.

No. i think the play is fine. What was the count? I think there is just as much of a chance that a ball squirts into the outfield and scores then a base hit.

I almost cringe when I hear John Shannon talk about baseball. Guys like Brunt are good because you feel they know their limitations.

Ken Reid is not dumb. He's pretty smart. But he's a hockey fan that watches a bit of baseball. He talks baseball like you see American commentators talk hockey. You can just tell they are casual fans.... I'm speaking as a fan that considers myself advanced casual.
