Why don't we just keep Hutch in the pen? If someone gets hurt.. yeah he won't be 100% stretched out but he'd still be able to provide 4-5 innings in a pinch. He and Floyd could easily piggyback.
We're at a point now where we need more talent. The guy has had a good start in AAA, he misses bats.. why not?
The pro of having him up here contributing NOW >>> the con of having him not 100% stretched out when he is called upon.
Just looking at his career stats... he seems to get destroyed the 3rd time through the lineup. Does anyone have any figures that show the average jump in hitter success after incremental times through the lineup?
