  1. If used predominantly against RHP's Francisco should put up some real healthy numbers. He's been a decent platoon bat his entire time in the majors. It happens to every team. Heck the Red Sox traded journeyman RP Larry Andersen as a rental once upon a time, giving up future HOF Jeff Bagwell.
  2. I'm the same way with 28 year old pitchers who've been beat up wherever they've pitched.
  3. It's not about Nolin deserving the spot, because an argument could be made for a bunch of guys. But from my perspective it's about youth, financial flexibility, results and make a determination on whether Nolin is in the future plans. He's already past the relevant age for me, but as a #5 to be used as a buffer who cares. The Jays pushed their payroll close to the brink this year and still aren't a contender. The team is an old team and isn't getting better. So using Nolin as a #5 to eat a bunch of innings at LG MIN is my optimal suggestion. Then Sanchez as our #5 next year and Nolin could be moved to the 4 slot if he's shown promise, or into LOOGY role, long man out of the 'pen or traded. Rogers is what he is. He's a 28 year old #5 at best. His numbers away from Coors & Rogers Centre aren't good. His numbers split as a SP or RP aren't good. I'm not sure what you're expecting from him.
  4. Yep. Got beat around. And funny enough every pitcher gets beat around at one time or another. I'd like to see Happ moved for a C prospect and Nolin promoted to take his spot.
  5. And most other teams are trotting out 1's and 2's? News to me.
  6. Its a shuffling of cards right now. No reason to be promoting and demoting guys and losing them for nothing.
  7. Humans are creatures of habit. Remember the Jo-Jo experiment?
  8. I'm not sure why the club would have a lack of confidence in him when the same applies to how the fan base feels about the team. I personally have more confidence in Stroman succeeding as a SP than the f***ing Blue Jays succeeding.
  9. Is that the same Ryan Goins who was always played old to the level in the minors and put up pretty pedestrian numbers that people expected something off? If Gose were to be given the CF job, hit 250/315/365, stole 30-40, and played the defence I've seen for LG MIN. I'd be happier than paying Rasmus 15m to do what he does or trading more farm for a very expensive old CF that all the fans know.
  10. At some point people need to stop looking at one stat to characterize a player.
  11. Seeing as Colby's a free agent next year and moving away from his prime years, I'm kinda hoping Alex doesn't sink 15m a year into a 2nd tier CF and extend him.
  12. I remember him missing the cut off being a knock from before, and its something you grow out of or can easily be told to stop doing. IMO its more of having a rocket arm and wanting to gun everyone down on your own. The OF's main concern should be to deliver the ball to the cutoff/IF as quickly as possible and his job is done. You can never fault an OF for hitting the cutoff man, on pretty much every play. I never said he had amazing defence. And you don't need to tell me that speed doesn't equate to amazing defence otherwise Rickey Henderson & Vince Coleman wouldn't have been left fielders most of their careers. The thing is, when Colby leaves the Jays shortly who mans CF? Why are people using GG to describe the quality of defence. We've seen enough Gold Gloves handed out to players who absolutely don't deserve a GG.
  13. Your solution for CF when Rasmus isn't with us in June/July 2014....2015?
  14. If he's raking at 26 in AAA, hopefully he's playing for someone else. He is what he is now. And if Gose is a 3rd tier CF, I'll take that at LG MIN over paying Colby 15m for him to play at a 2nd tier level.
  15. I'm liking the fact Alex is slowing things down. I'm hoping he's not calling up Pillar, Gose & Mastro to keep giving them regular AB's in AAA, with the intention of moving Cabrera & Rasmus in separate deals for prospect packages. Then, bring the trio up to man LF & CF with a 4thOF spot depending on the match up of the night. Same applies to John Stilson, keep him in Buffalo and try move a RP for a B-/C prospect.
  16. I don't understand why Gibbons doesn't let the SP's stay out an inning or 2 longer, if the BP is spent and if the SP has already put the team in a hole that game? Happ's getting beat up after 3 or 4 innings. Let him stay out there for the 5th & 6th.
  17. In all honesty, it doesn't matter. The Jays aren't making the playoffs, so it should be lets do what's most palatable to help the team win without doing anything reckless.
  18. True. If you have a situation like Strasburg's in 2012. Before the season started the Nationals appeared to be a playoff worthy team on paper. The team had a choice to either start Strasburg in April and get shutdown in September, preventing the them from running with a stud in the playoffs, or ease him into the season and start him in late April-early May based on whatever the teams concerns were to limit innings and pitch him into October, why pitch the guy earlier in the season?
  19. If the Jays are and might possibly be in contention. And if Stroman is on an innings limit, I'd rather the opposite of what the Nats did with Strasburg. I'd rather slowly infuse Stroman early in the year and be able to pitch into September and possibly October than to slot a mediocre POS arm in when the games are tighter and possibly pitching in the playoffs and have Stroman shut down.
  20. Looks like the Cubs were patient enough to let Samardzija fix his, which were a problem in the minors.
