    I wouldn't have done it, due to the big contract a pitcher entering his 30's would've been getting, along with sending a Sanchez. And I believe it was Stroman & Sanchez that was being bandied about. Which would've been plain stupid.

    It's not like teams are tripping over themselves to trade quality catchers to the Blue Jays. OMG, that baseball crazed country just got rid of Twitter catcher. Now they're looking at fat Dioner Navarro, let's deal them one of our good catchers because they're baseball crazed.

    The Sox have some pretty good names coming (Owens, Barnes, Betts, Webster, Swihart, Vazquez, Delarosa, Cecchini, Workman, Ball, Margot, Marrero.....etc) and big names that are far off. They have a good team with good close depth, and good young pieces far away. They're set up to be good for a very long time. That's what the Jays should be doing and they're not.

    What does being fat have to do with playing good defence? Jose Molina wasn't exactly a lithe catcher. And furthermore Navarro is way better than JPA.

    If Alex makes a push for the playoffs by discarding more future and the Jays miss the playoffs, Alex should be fired this off season.

    Wow....we have the hindsight king here. As for Josh Johnson, when mediocre relievers are getting 8m per year and more in free agency, why wouldn't someone take a risk on Josh Johnson?

    There's always a chance. I just hope Alex doesn't see the Jays as a "contender" and sell more youth for win now closer to the deadline.

    I'm never a fan of being overly optimistic of anything in life. I didn't understand what having the least amount of errors meant? It definitely doesn't mean the best defensive team.

    There's a cap on the July 2nd budget....although you can top the cap, but with penalties for doing so attached.

    Performance related bonuses are not permitted by MLB. And when FA mediocre RP are getting 6-10 million per year, offering Morrow who could easily be a mediocre RP 3-4 million would be extremely stupid on his part to accept.

    Washington doesn't really have a young team. They're more of a "in their prime" team. And their farm is s***.

    I honestly would prefer to watch the stripped down team you list, knowing there's young kids dripping with potential who can be slotted in shortly, as you said. I already know the team isn't making the playoffs with what we have now. So why not enjoy watching young kids lose, but lose knowing there's big potential down the line. And if they do well, they're here for 4+ years on the cheap. And if a kid fails or doesn't live up to expectations.....it's a cheap cost lost.

    I can't see Rogers allowing much more spending, so what you're saying is the Jays won't be able to make a trade until Beeston & Alex are gone? Highly unlikely.
