  1. Let's not get too crazy here.
  2. Or we could put a pillow over your face while you're sleeping and make you sleep for a real long time. (oops, I hope this kind of talk isn't frowned upon against a new/infrequent user, we wouldn't want their expressed views to have resistance, because their voice counts)
  3. If the Jays had Sanchez only throwing fastballs and preventing him from using off speed stuff this year, I'll cut him slack on the poor numbers.
  4. Did you crap on me after I responded about my job and why I had zero interest in pursuing a career in baseball? (I was going to say s***, but felt it was too harsh a word to use seeing as we may have some new fresh baseball fans and they've never heard such bad talk in their entire life)
  5. I thought TJS for players was a less lengthy recovery than for pitchers?
  6. Why does what Shelby did matter?
  7. What's wrong with trading all your future assets for decent SP? Casual fans make the world go 'round, so may as well go all-in while maintaining a finger on the pulse to know how far to bury this team for the future.
  8. I was talking after the 2014 season if the Jays win the World Series do they stand pat with the team they have? As for you asking about a mid-season acquisition....I'm not a buyer on Price, Samardzija or Shields unless the price is right and I don't think the price will be right. Anything less than one of these guys though and its pointless.....a Jason Hammel is pointless for post season purposes. And he's older so it's not like he's an asset going forward.
  9. Just say the Jays win the WS. Do the Jays then hold off, not moving any pieces in the off season as well?
  10. I crave the Jays to gut there team down to nothing like the Cubs? We already have a pretty good team, the Cubs were down to bare bones. I'm not advocating for a full rebuild....never have. But you guys keep putting it out there that I am. All I'm saying is a re-tooling needs to start happening, retirement tours of baseball players isn't something I look forward to. Slam dunk for what? What needs to happen is for the Rays to put Price out to the other 29 teams and accept the best offer. A team doesn't have to wait until their raping someone for Price, Edwin or Bautista. But moving those pieces for future pieces and free'ing up money works. You don't agree the Rays Front Office does a good job?
  11. Gose has struggled to hit throughout his pro' career, why would you get him to try something that virtually no one does?
  12. And the funny thing is the comment comes from the poster Ed Sprague. A white, balding, stiff while playing for the Jays.
  13. Did you just describe Colby or Gose?
  14. I know there's people on here with that mentality.
  15. It all depends on who we received back in trade. What if we got back an Oscar Taveras, Greg Polanco type player as one of the main pieces in a return with a couple other highly regarded prospects. Plus the money saved off Edwin or Bautista next year could be put towards the next big thing coming out of Japan, Kenta Maeda for next year. So essentially you'd be getting a guy to replace Bautista or Edwin for the next handful of years along with a couple other young pieces that have a chance to be/do something soon with the big club and have a young stud pitcher in Maeda to head the rotation for another....handful of years. I don't trust Jose or Edwin continuing on as they are for the next handful of years.
  16. As much I'm a fan of Gose succeeding long term with us. I think it's best to keep things simple with him. He's never had a good hit tool, so why try and have him chopping at balls and altering his swing. I agree with Chris who said he should be bunting more. He should be using that as a weapon to keep the corners and pitcher on their toes and even having them almost feeling the need to be moving in every time he's at the plate. And maybe then he scores some base hits keeping the defence uneasy.
  17. I'm not trying to predict anything. I'm saying get out soon on an 30+ year old Encarnacion while he's peaking. Get out on a not too far off 35 year old Jose Bautista while he's still raking. Acquire young players like the Rays did for Shields who are reagarded as good, very good young players.......lengthen the windows of contention out instead of shortening it. I can't understand what the benefit of operating with a short contention window is, over trying to have long windows of contention. And acquiring young cheap good players for Edwin or Jose and lengthens the window. Get young pieces in here that are cheap. Because the Jays current ownership is showing us they're only willing to be a 2nd tier spender for payroll. And the FO has to be a shrewd FO to contend for a playoff spot if the ownership is only willing to float 2nd tier money to the GM to work with.
  18. You missed my point. I'd be taking names of fans who want to make a massive playoff push with a trade(s) now by gutting the farm. And when the team is bad, because the farm is non-existent and the team is a couple years older on top of already being old, those same fans that wanted the push towards a veteran laden, expensive team are then complaining that the Jays suck. Berating dumb fans is fun.
  19. It scares me what the Jays would essentially be giving up for a "rental". I really don't see any of the SP names who are being floated as targets wanting to ink an extension with us. And at some point in the near future Edwin AND Bautista should be traded.
  20. If they've preferred the trade market then why were offers put out to Anibal Sanchez and Beltran over the past couple years? And again, without thinking twice I would've kept Henderson Alvarez and the 18 and 19m Buehrle's owed would've best been used towards Anibal Sanchez and offer him 20m per instead of the 16m he's getting, Sanchez being a much better asset than Buehrle and you still have Henderson Alvarez. They're about 40-50 mil short of where they need to be if anyone thinks they're gonna be a player. The Rays seem to turn over their star and solid players for prospects and they're winning 90+ games a year....barring decimation due to injuries this year.
  21. I'm not a fan of "rebuilding", retooling, however I'm a big fan of. I just threw Edwin's & Jose's name out there, because at some point in the near future they should be moved. If it's not this season, it has to be soon. Keeping them until free agency looms or extending them until retirement is ridiculous asset & organizational management. IMO Rasmus must be moved. If he's QO'd I don't trust another team signing him to what he'd be looking for. As for the Jays being contenders...before the season started they weren't. And I believe they're still a very good piece or two away from being legit. Everything has gone their way to this point in time and the division has been a bit of a mess. If a Buehrle, Dickey or Hutchison were to go down to injury, they Jays are in big trouble. I don't trust the rotation now and expect a regression, let alone someone getting injured. And I'd love to go back and look at trades, but I'm doing some homework for my Fantasy Drafts that'll be starting up Monday.
  22. I'll have to start taking names. Who wanted the Jays to go all in for 2014. And when the cupboard is bare those same posters can't say a peep about how s*** the team is.
