  1. I watched him..... highlight reel almost every night
  2. Doing WAR graph comparisons with Bonds is quite interesting. In terms of cumulative WAR, Griffey JR and Rickey Henderson both parallel Bonds in cumulative WAR up to about age 32, after which Bonds went of on what we now know was a 'roids fuelled tear. Saying Bonds has had the 2nd best MLB career has to include several asterisks. A non 'roids Bonds may not even surpass Henderson.
  3. Agree the difference is not significant, keeping in mind that Griffey's otherworldly defence pre-injuries is likely WAR undervalued.
  4. Not that simple. Griffey WAR > Bonds WAR every year except for one up to age 26 season. Griffey had more cumulative WAR until age 30, after which Bonds went WAR berserk. Injuries to Griffey and Bonds drugs the difference.
  5. Back in those days even some of the linemen on my high school football team in London ON were taking 'roids.
  6. Not really. With his strength built up through 'roids, even imperfect contact will do it.
  7. Are you sure about this? Would a non-juiced Mark McGwire hit > 61 home runs?
  8. Was Bonds clean during his Pirates years?
  9. Where did I say Griffey was clean?
  10. By extension then, Armstrong the best cyclist, Johnson the best sprinter, etc...... but this is not necessarily true. There were non-cheating cyclists, sprinters, and baseball players.... we will never know how much of the performance gap was due to the juice. Perhaps not enough to be HOF-worthy? Would Armstrong win just 1 Tour de France? Were Bonds, Armstrong and Johnson simply the most efficient of the cheaters? Only if you can answer these questions can you make a conclusion on who was the best. And these questions cannot be answered. Can you really conclude that a non-juiced Bonds would put up better career numbers than a non-juiced Griffey Jr?
  11. a 2014 like 2013 and BM is in the BP CJ, D-Mac, BC, SD, and BM = unbeatable BP
  12. He's quite the wildcard - pitching like a Cy-guy in 2012 before getting injured. Maybe this extended rest will translate to an injury free 2014. A return to health and 2012 form vaults the Jays into contender status IMO.
  13. Will not make it... will hang around for a bit and go the way of Walker.... who is much more deserving BTW Also, not surprised the Jays did not make serious effort to keep Delgado, that year Delgado made lots of dumb mistakes on the field... looked like he didn't care
  14. could an online hall of fame with a better election process run by some smart fellow like fatcow catch on? why go to all the trouble of visiting cooperstown when you can read, hear from, and watch videos of all the greats right from your living room?
  15. no biggie if he shits the bed we have a replacement level replacement in Buffalo
  16. I find it ominous we haven't heard a lick about Morrow's health this off season. He might have a healthy season, and just as likely, he might call it quits in ST. AA's pursuit of SP may be the best indicator that Morrow cannot be relied on
  17. Watched the classic Reds-Red Sox 1975 Game 6 That was the series that hooked me on baseball, I was 9 yrs old and a diehard Reds fan for the next 5 or 6 years before switching to the Expos of Carter and Dawson and Rogers, and finally the Blue Jays of Stieb and Bell and Barfield
  18. the other possibility of course is Rasmus has already decided to be a free agent this would explain both not doing the winter tour and showing up early at ST
  19. After the Dickey trade, I am sure GMs are eager to talk to AA
  20. Below average GM Of the top of my head, Morrow, Delabar, Escobar, Santos all good moves Will not give him any credit for Wells, that one dropped in his lap - LAA shitshow organization AA does not seem to have a clue about building a sustainably winning ballclub, and that sinks him to below average IMO
  21. Rangers seem loaded with the bats but so did the Angels and the Jays last year
  22. What you saw on the radio?
  23. The other aspect of this is AA knows he got burned and burned bad last offseason and may be afraid of a repeat. If so, we should not expect much of anything to happen this offseason. Of course, we added by subtraction (JPA).
