    This. Hitters and pitchers should be on a strict time limit between the last pitch and being ready for the next one. Use a 3 strikes and you're ejected approach to enforce it. The pitchers and hitters monkeying around is where the real delay is.

    Just announce the starting 9 during a warm up before the game, ending with the batterymates, and get on with it. In golf, there is no anthem, just each player is announced before they tee off.

    Agree.... a bit of a wing and a prayer bullpen. Was much stronger (on paper at least) going into 2016.

    voted similar team reminds me of the .500 teams from between 95 and 2015.... chance to be very good, but with a few bad breaks mediocre or worse last season was lucky health wise team needs infusion of young blood and by their comments, Shatkins is working towards this

    Social media is a minefield for sports stars and celebrities. Put something out there that's just a bit contentious or silly and get a thousand disses.

    Vegas has the Jays as 12th best, tied with 3 other teams at 30-1 odds to win WS. Not that great. There isn't much available, and it does not make sense for Jays to incrementally increase their chances by trading prospects or cost controlled players like Barnes for vets. Now, if the Jays still had EE and were 15-1 odds or something like that, there is merit to such moves.

    My guess is #2. They have already stated they want to get more grade A prospects into the farm system. Presumably to build a future perennial contender around Vlad (if he pans out of course) and others. My preference is they don't move prospects for declining vets like Robertson, and still manage to get into the post season.

    I said anything can happen. Where do you rank the Jays currently, among the other MLB teams?

    I understand that - the Jays will be fighting for 2 wild card spots with a team with holes that had amazing luck with pitcher health the past two years. Anything can happen, but a betting man is betting against. Edit: against winning the WS, that is.

    If you are referring to me, not objecting to him. Just not for a cost controlled pitcher with upside like Barnes - and especially when its hard to see the Jays being serious contenders.

    Steamer has Barnes at 0.6 WAR, Robertson at 0.8 WAR. Barnes has upside, Robertson on the downside of his career. I would say there is a decent chance Barnes 2017 is Biagini 2016.

    Not a name thrown out there. wk680 proposed Barnes for Robertson and $10M. I'm saying that's a bad deal. Isn't that the purpose of BJMB, to discuss these things?

    No. I agree with Thanos there's a decent chance Barnes outperforms Robertson and factoring in salary and years of control, deal does not make sense unless CWS eats a big chunk of the salary. Like $20M of the $25M owed. Even then it's an iffy deal.
