  1. = 1 year of BJMB mod immunity
  2. Manaea 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA and 0.78 WHIP, with 30 strikeouts against seven walks in 5 September starts Sorry about the dinosaur stats, a c+p from NBC
  3. Manaea, Luzardo and Hendriks have been damn good though, and they might be the three A's pitchers in the game.
  4. My guess is the pitching matchup. Morton vs. whoever The A's lineup is far superior though
  5. Yes, tighten the elimination format as necessary later.
  6. I agree with this. Can't see Fisher pushed down the depth chart by a new OF acquisition, after half a season.
  7. Ah, I get that to some extent. But I'd be interested in how the Rays pitching does against the Yanks or Twinkies hitting in a short series.
  8. Looking at the team rankings, the Rays are 1st in pitching, 10th in fielding, 12th in hitting, MLB wide. That's a playoff team.
  9. Not the Expos?
  10. Martinez said Scherzer, with both Strasburg and Corbin available from the bullpen.
  11. Selling prospects for pitching rarely works out for the seller.
  12. Was able to add everyone. But way too many clicks. Add 24 roster guys, then after adding each MiLB asset, move to the next day (Saturday) and move the MiLB to minors roster. Do it for each MiLB guy in sequence. Or just wait until tomorrow morning before the games start and do it then. After you load all the MiLB guys, add the 25th roster player. For anyone just starting to add their team, probably easier to add the MiLB guys one by one, then move them all to minors roster in one shot, then add your DL guys, move them to DL, then add the 25 active MLB'ers.
  13. What do i have to do so my team shows up in Fantrax
  14. I'm not a big fan of Fantrax, but will be good to have all my teams on one platform.
  15. Who else is cheering for the Nats in the playoffs
  16. And whether the team made the playoffs. More so than today.
  17. Changing the shape; the location of each node of the element changes based on the calculated deflection from each load increment. The analysis has to be re-run multiple times, each time with the adjusted geometry and the next load increment. Load increment had to be kept small or the computer algorithm became unstable. Quite tedious. This was in the early 1990's using AFENA, pioneering software from Australia used for geotechnical research. I had to so some re-coding. It was in Fortran. Probably only relevant for geotechnical modelling, where deflections can be significant. Don't ask too many questions, I haven't done that type of work in years.
  18. Potential Cdn 1st rounder next year: David Calabrese | OF | St. Elizabeth Catholic HS, Vaughan, Ont. Calabrese was the biggest riser at the Future Stars Series. He's a senior and draft-eligible for 2020, but he was still just 16 at the event, turning 17 shortly after on Sept. 25. Calabrese showed an exciting combination of hitting ability, quick-twitch athleticism, speed and defense at a premium position, making him a candidate to jump up draft boards. Calabrese isn't that big—listed at 5-foot-9, 145-pounds—but he's a 70 runner who ran the 60-yard dash in 6.47 seconds. He stole a hit from Crews at Fenway Park, reacting quickly off the bat on a line drive in front of him in center field to make a sliding catch. Between his speed and defensive actions, he looks like an easy bet to play center field, though he didn't show much arm strength at this event. Calabrese stood out in the batter's box as well, going 3-for-8 with a double off a lefthander to right field that would be a single for most hitters, but his wheels allowed him to leg out the extra base. At Fenway Park, he pulled another ball into the corner for an extra-base hit that the right fielder misplayed, allowing Calabrese to come all the way around to score on the play thanks again to his speed. Calabrese's swing is simple, quiet and direct from the left side, geared for line drives with doubles power.
  19. What is this about? If you are referring to my master's thesis, it is dynamic finite element analysis of deep buried drainage and geosynthetics. Deep buried would apply to the base of landfills, for example. Dynamic finite element analysis means the element geometry changes with each load increment for more accurate modelling results. This is different than the standard SEM with static geometry. The research has value because if drainage elements at the base of landfills were to fail, groundwater over a very large area would be contaminated / undrinkable. This was in the early 1990's.
