  1. 'stro's / braves
  2. I'd give him a few more years in return for a bit lower AAV.
  3. Nah. Can expect Vlad and Bo to be extended, giving them security through the controllable years in return for a couple of FA years. The idea the Jays have a window of contention that ends when Vlad and Bo hit free agency is wrong. The idea is to have a constant pipeline of Vlad and Bo types from the minors / sustained winning.
  4. EE was 1 WAR the year before. Which one do you get?
  5. There are better FA targets out there for a rebuilding team then 37 yr old EE.
  6. For operating while wasted.
  7. Yes, because the connection between Montreal and the Nats is strong and deep.
  8. Strasburg.... the right choice
  9. Expect Dave Martinez is thinking back to his Expos days.
  10. Is it the right time to make that type of deal though. All of these guys should be more valuable a year from now, after another year of development and being closer to the majors. Orelvis for example should reach full season A ball in 2020, or even start there and elevate to A+ by the end of the season. Also, a philosophy of sustained winning means you don't trade your high end prospects and in fact even when the team is a contender, you are still trying to acquire elite prospect types.
  11. Still plenty of legacy Dodgers fans in Brooklyn, after 55 years. The fanaticism has in many cases been passed down to next generations.
  12. Spooge! McCann had a nice breakout, but I will keep Alfaro instead - big power upside
  13. I have James McCann available for a pick upgrade.
  14. every game was pretty much a sellout in those years
  15. No one has suggested building a contender pitching staff using internal options only.
  16. Yes, but any agreements / commitments between management and players made subsequent to the CBA takes precedence. Maybe Bryant has evidence the Cubs reneged on such an agreement.
  17. These things will be decided based on information we are not privy to, such as the communications from Cubs staff to Bryant (and his agent), and vice versa during the time in question. Since there is no direct contravention of the BA, Bryant will need to have evidence of improper conduct or commitments made and broken.
  18. As of today, after two years as a baseball superstar, Juan Soto can buy a beer.
  19. Anything can happen in short series. Remember when the f***ing Royals babip'ed the Blue Jays? It's going the Nats way so far. This also shows trying for a short window of contention (like the Mets idiot) is a dumb approach. Need a period of sustained winning.
  20. That's fine but it is difficult to build a winner without homegrown prospects. I didn't say all three are needed, but for the BJs to get to the WS again, at least a couple of their pitching prospects need to pan out. Outside of Groshans and Orelvis, who are a ways away, the elite prospects on the farm are pitchers.
  21. I'd be calling up the dummy in NY about Dominic Smith +, for Giles.
  22. Realistically, around that time. Could be earlier, depends on Pearson, SWR, Manoah types.
  23. Smoak had a .223 babip. Probably a better target. EE makes no sense for the Jays. Realistically he will be 39 before the Jays are contenders again.
  24. A minor story until they made it much worse by denying it (a lie), then having to admit they lied.
