  1. Ya I messaged him yesterday
  2. #7 and #2, respectively on Baseball America
  3. The only way to contend would be to sign high priced free agents, which comes with significant financial risk. eg. whoever signs Cole is taking the risk he becomes a broken down Sale in a few years. The risk probably greatly exceeds the increased chance of Jays winning in 2020. And/Or trade Pearson and other prospects for established players. I have no problem with the Jays signing a top free agent this offseason as a building block for a future contender, but to sign multiple free agents in an attempt to contend in 2020, is not a good business decision.
  4. Oh they probably would sign a couple of secondary pieces if they go that route. Team is still a 2020 longshot.
  5. So, legit contending in 2020. Let's say the Jays do the super highly unlikely and sign both Cole and Rendon. Are they now legit contenders? Offhand, I say no, not really.
  6. A very subtle distinction.
  7. Good approach. Better than spanky and boxy and others bringing up the idea of Jay's as 2020 contenders.
  8. Yes let's do that, fatso.
  9. Agreed. As per my post of a few minutes ago, expect some FA to improve the product.
  10. I can see the Jay's hitting .500 next season. Not going to be as bad as this year.
  11. Certainly implied. Blue Jay's have never had a farm equivalent to the Braves of a few years ago or the Astros of a few years prior. Twins are just a good team on a different part of the win cycle.
  12. Sure ya the bluejays are in the exact same position of these teams before they became contenders. Not really. Said before the bluejays need to make some offseason acquisitions this year to improve the product. But thinking they will be active on the FA market in an effort to turn the team into a 2020 contender is not bloody likely.
  13. Agree. A new closer should emerge from the multitude of back end starters shatkins have accumulated.
  14. Trout out for the season... maybe Yahoo will make him a DL and BTS will be happy, finally
  15. looks to me the drunks are getting bounced today
  16. This is why you should never be a commissioner. And Boris Johnson? lol
  17. Vlad has the home run derby curse its not permanent
  18. Joe C. (Charlotte): Hi Kyle, thanks for the chat! Which of these pitchers do you see making their team's starting rotation by the all-star break next season? Nate Pearson, Anthony Kay, Jesus Luzardo, AJ Puk, Triston McKenzie, Alex Reyes, Ryan Helsley, , Genesis Cabrera, Carlos Martinez, Touki Toussaint Kyle Glaser: Pearson, Kay, Luzardo for sure. I can see Puk and Martinez. McKenzie it's hard to feel confident about given his injuries. The rest I'd bet are relievers.
  19. James (McHenry, IL): If you could name one Hitter and one Pitcher that you are most excited/interested to see play in the Arizona Fall League, who would they be and why? Kyle Glaser: The hitter has to be Julio Rodriguez. The types of things scouts, opposing managers and players are saying about this kid insane. I have not had the opportunity to see him for myself yet, so I’m looking forward to watching him play. Spencer Howard and Shane Baz are two big-armed righthanders I haven’t seen in person yet and are probably the pitchers I’m most curious to see.
  20. its fine, not ideal, the way it is now..... switching to fantrax carries risk of losing owners, so i say no to a switch
  21. True but a rebuilding team IS betting on the prospects in the system
  22. You are dumb. When bichette, vlad, and groshans hopefully in the infield and giving the expected elite production, you just need an average OF There is a need for better OF but this could happen on it's own from assets already in place. Expect the focus will be on other needs.
  23. I can see an OF within 2 years of Gurriel, Biggio, and Grichuk, once another MIF prospect graduates. Which is not bad at all. Grichuk is having a down year, his history says he should be 2-2.5 WAR minimum.
  24. As a bridge to Groshans, sure. I think Moustakas on a 4 yr deal would be the better target though, younger, more durable and probably cheaper. Try to retain max salary dollars for pitching, FA this offseason or the next or via trade.
  25. Turning over a new Leaf, it's that time of year.
