  1. Bregman +4 WAR Alonso +3 WAR - 2 WAR from shifting Vlad to 3B
  2. Then you again are missing the business aspect. Multiple teams, not just the Jays, have indicated more payroll is available when the team is a contender. Ergo, a Sasaki signing increases available payroll.
  3. Springer probably ends up below average defensively this year. An all world duo of Gimenez and Varsho surrounded by butchers. Edit - well damn I had no idea Springers numbers are that bad.
  4. An 80 grade on Sasaki's splitter. It's very very rare to see an 80 on a pitch.
  5. It's a problem only in the context of team building. Not knowing whether a player is going to stay or f*** off makes the job of a FO more difficult
  6. You are missing plenty. No one is arguing against signing Sasaki, least of all me. My theory is that since the Jays are up against the luxury tax threshold, other significant signings ($$) will only occur if Sasaki is signed. Ownership has always said more money is available if the Jays are fielding a contender. Which a Sasaki signing would do.
  7. You seem to be missing that MLB is a business first and foremost.
  8. Who is better defensively at 3B, Vlad or Vientos? It's probably Vlad lol
  9. He gets paid league minimum but that's not the point. MLB is a business. Shatkins are on a 1 yr deal, ownership likely has a tighter leash then before. Any major investments like a Bregman probably have to be justified or no dice.
  10. I don't think ownership would permit getting into luxury tax territory unless it is warranted, and Sasaki would warrant it. They were willing to go way over for Ohtani and Soto. Likely see Sasaki as a similar high profile get. Sasaki or bust!
  11. I'm not certain about anything. This is all speculation / spitballing / trolling / getting paid to bring traffic to the website.
  12. What's his name owner of the Mets sees Vlad as >>> Alonso
  13. We know the FO needed ownership permission to make offers to Ohtani and Soto. Is 200M for Bregman in the same vein. And did ownership make permission conditional on Sasaki signing? Giving the Jays a real shot at a highly successful season? Does Bregman have standing offers and waiting on Sasaki decision? Who knows?
  14. What you are missing is this is all speculation / spitballing / trolling.
  15. The way i see it, if the Jays sign Alonso, vlad gets moved to the Mets for a haul
  16. Wow. So many irons in the fire. It will be hilarious if nothing comes from any of this.
  17. Soon we will be hearing Sasaki is on a flight to TO!
  18. Cmon man. Luxury tax? Jays are certain to get Bregman if they land sasaki. And try to stay under the threshold On the flip side, if they don't get Sasaki, there is no Bregman and no Vlad extension / he gets traded
  19. The reason for the relative lack of off-season activity soon to be apparent. Roki!
  20. I'm reading that the Jays take the UP Express. Its faster and much more comfortable, so would make sense.
  21. But the Rangers or Cubs don't have those connections. Just like when any of us buy a home, Sasaki is considering many different factors. If he has an earthquake phobia, that would be just one of them. As Term notes, the money is essentially the same, so it comes down to various intangible factors.
  22. Many professional sports players take public transit. Nylander for example regularly takes the subway.
