  1. Yes I think there will be a whirlwind of Jays activity after Sasaki makes his decision
  2. Sign Vladdy long term. Then when he's in his 30s and I'm in a home, the announcer will go... "Hereeeeee's Vladdy!" Will bring back great memories of "Hereeeee's Johnny!"
  3. I just noticed the Jays have no 1B backup. Bring back Craig's son?
  4. Imagine a late inning defensive alignment of: Loperfido, Varsho, Straw Vlad, Gimenez, Bo, Bregman Probably drops the bullpen ERA by 0.50
  5. Nah it's because they've targeted pitchers with a history of durability at the big league level. Whereas in the minors it's just a massive crapshoot, and we've been unlucky.
  6. True but to run a 6 man rotation, regardless of how you do it, puts more pressure on pitching depth. I think the Jays keep what they have is Sasaki signs.
  7. Well. Sasaki has not played a full season for the past few years, due to injury. Every player, particularly pitchers, will have times when they have to weigh financial security vs risk of career limiting injury. For the record, Sasaki salary in Japan was $500K a year
  8. Everything I've seen indicates a team with Sasaki needs a 6 man rotation
  9. At least credit me for being the originator of this line of thinking
  10. It will be funny if after all this, Sasaki decides to stay in Japan for 2 more years
  11. For sure, and it's more likely the $2M is to increase the likelihood Sasaki chooses TO, with getting more IFA prospects the fallback. Plus Straw does have some value, just not $10M worth
  12. Yeah as a situational guy Straw is fine. As a late inning defensive guy he helps out the bullpen a fair bit. Varsho and Straw in the OF together is like a giant vacuum
  13. It's possible the extra IFA money is to sign the guys the Dodgers had a deal with
  14. You don't believe in virgin birth? I could have sworn you are devout
  15. Apparently earthquakes have never occurred at the same time as fires and the immediate aftermath. I'm sure he knows this.
  16. Dunno what you are looking at but his 2024 defensive numbers are below average across the board. He's getting older, not younger. I wouldn't bet on 2025 improvements.
  17. Fair enough. So the poor defensive metrics are from his arm, errors, etc
  18. Huh. He has lost a lot of speed. If he didn't he'd be CF He is average offensively, poor defensively. Your gut is wrong.
  19. Last year, he was average for the position offensively, but well below average defensively.
