  1. I can see it, but AFL results should be taken with a grain of salt. The quality of pitching in the AFL is generally low, and is particularly low this year.
  2. Will Smith spent all of 2019 with the Dodgers, caught 46 games. Then in the COVID shortened 2019, caught 34 games. Doesn't appear to have affected him. As long as Moreno catches at least 40 games, or 1 or 2 games a week, that should be sufficient to keep his mechanics sharp. The other part of catching, the game calling, batter tendencies, etc mostly learned outside the game? I don't know how Kirk will get much or any time behind the plate, after Moreno comes up. Will be interesting to see how it is handled, and if Kirk shows up to camp 30 lbs lighter, it gets super interesting. A trade seems inevitable.
  3. He'll be making offers all day every day.
  4. I sent Frenchsoup a msg.
  5. Marlins will accept an athletic OF with swing and miss issues for Lopez
  6. At the GM meeting this week there was overwhelming support for pitch clocks. Would apparently reduce game time by ~30 mins.
  7. Steamer projects 16 HR in 387 PA for Ruiz, 108 wRC+. I suspect he gets quite a bit more than 387 PA for the rebuilding Nats. Espino has front line potential, but he's a few years away and pitcher risk. Ruiz > Espino IMO
  8. I use the fantasy rankings, Fantrax' (Clegg) rankings are generally pretty bad, though.
  9. lol, I didn't get angry, I made a tongue in cheek comment when rejecting the deal
  10. BA has Ruiz #13, Espino #89. Espino has never pitched above A+ and likely won't hit MLB until late 2023 or 2024 (assuming no arm trouble), Ruiz is in MLB. Espino is a pitcher.
  11. Was just browsing old drafts. Holy f***, 2017... 1 Dr. Dinger Kevin Maitan (SS - ATL) 2 Speedymin Yohander Mendez (SP - TEX) 3 AdamGreenwood Chris Paddack (SP - SD) 4 JG34 Ronald Guzman (1B - TEX) 5 L54 Kyle Lewis (OF - SEA) 6 Frenchsoup David Jacob (1B - TOR) 7 Havok Jason Groome (SP - BOS) 8 GD Mickey Moniak (OF - PHI) 9 Boxcar Matt Thaiss (1B - LAA)
  12. Spent 10 mins trying to work something, at the end decided mid 2022 after the Jansen breakout is the better time to move a C.
  13. I've got my eye on Espino, maybe there is a fit.
  14. I've got Carson Kelly, Danny Jansen, Keibert Ruiz..... who you like?
  15. Taylor V. (Seattle, WA): Is there a conversation to be had for Moreno over Rutschman for best C prospect or is that too crazy? Ben Badler: I wouldn't agree, and I think the strong majority of evaluators wouldn't see it that way, but I can't say you would be alone in that camp either.
  16. Plus some addition by subtraction, punt Grichuk somewhere
  17. Bullpen just needs a couple of mid game, set-up types for the offseason. Never go whole hog on the bullpen in the offseason. Save bullets for reinforcements mid season as needed.
  18. Trollosi is back in off season form.
  19. Meh, these guys are a dime a dozen.
  20. 55 raw power is above average
  21. Vlad is not a catcher. Rutschman will be 24 when he comes up next season, even though the bat has been ready for MLB for at least a year.
  22. Won't be immediate, he will get his 3B reps. If the call up to MLB happens in 2022, it will probably be after Super 2 (or whatever the new CBA has). Plenty of rookies play multiple positions. There is nothing out of the box about this at all.
  23. Moreno won't be moved off catcher, he will be a C/3B. Over a full season, 40 games C, 100 games 3B for example. With Jansen / Kirk as other catchers. The nice part of such an arrangement is Kirk can be slotted into the DH position a fair number of games, which is a better fit for his current skillset anyway. This FO is smart enough to know McGuire is an AAAA player. If Moreno has the chops to be an average 3B defensively, I doubt Jays will give up the prospect capital to get Ramirez (Orelvis among others). Cost controlled assets are golden. Jays will buy to fill the pitching holes.
  24. It's happening, folks!
