  1. Exactly, and the Yankees have made themselves worse with that ridiculous mega contract
  2. Cohen so badly wants a championship. Gonna be interesting what he does when Verlander falls off a cliff, Senga is Kikuchi 2.0, Nimmo and Quintana get hurt again, Diaz regresses Will he double down or jump out the window?
  3. All rumours and speculation of course (its f***ing mlbtraderumours after all), but the Jays asking for Helsley is much different that what Jonn said.
  4. I can see Helsley in a deal for Murphy, but not Jansen. In fact, reports after the Cards signed Contreras is that the A's were asking for the moon, and the players named included Helsley. If you read the report, it lumps Oakland and Toronto together. Murphy has much more value than Jansen.
  5. Reading the musings of armchair GMs is entertaining.
  6. Ref in the England France game is a moron.
  7. Jays struck out on their first choice, went to #2. Ah well, it happens.
  8. I have few issues with what the Jays front office has done. They haven't been perfect, but compared to other teams in the same situation in 2016, they've done an excellent job. Now we have guys on here chomping at the bit to go all in, but that's not going to happen. These guys are about sustained winning.
  9. I'm sure the Jays and Kodai's agent have talked. The fact he hasn't visited Canada doesn't mean we should accept Jonn's hyberbole lol
  10. Toronto is doing the right thing letting these other teams recklessly blow their wad, before calmly stepping up and signing guys to reasonable deals
  11. If Barger struggles its not a hard problem to fix mid season
  12. Rather have Wacha instead of Thor
  13. From what i have read, yes. Could be a 2023 version of Stephen Kwan. I heard you want in on dynasty baseball. Have a team for you.
  14. Bo and Vlad came up through the system together. They don't seem as close anymore, but I'm sure if they had the chance to sign 10 year deals at the same time, that's a little extra incentive.
  15. Yes, Barger is considered better suited for 3B due to his arm but can play average'ish SS. This is based on a BA report from last week. edit - its from MLB.com Barger’s arm has been his best tool since his senior year of high school, and while he plays a solid shortstop, he profiles best at third base, where he can really put his throwing to good use. He also has some experience at second base, helping his cause as a potential power-heavy utility infielder if he can’t nail down an everyday spot at third.
  16. Delete account and start over
  17. Bo already is below average range at SS despite having good sprint speed. He's no long term answer at SS, he'll likely be terrible by the time he is 27 or 28, with multiple groundballs every game getting into the OF that a guy like Swanson gets to.
  18. Swanson one of the best defensive shortstops in MLB (top 5). Swanson at SS, Bo in CF, and Springer in RF instead of Teo probably worth +5 WAR or something for defense alone. Fits the run prevention mantra.
  19. D'Backs won't do that. Where do these values come from? Do they take into account years of control?
  20. Actually I think Swanson is going to be the epitome of consistency.
  21. Wish Bo would take reps in CF. Plenty of good fielding SS have played CF for their MLB club and are listed as SS/CF. And Bo isn't even good at fielding SS. Bo would provide good CF range, but the arm would be below average. Swanson anyone? Outstanding D.
  22. Biggest chip the Jays have is the catcher surplus. It's just Murphy and one of Jansen/Kirk/Moreno for multiple teams pursuing a catcher (unless they settle for the likes of the parking lot pervert). Offseason is dynamic, and who knows, maybe the Jays now need to use the chip to get either a CF or an SP, and when that happens it determines whether they pursue an OF like Nimmo or an SP like Wacha
  23. Yes, I wonder if some teams have assessed that inflation is going to run at 5% or so for a while yet.
  24. I sure am, mate. I had forgotten about the forearm flexor issue though. His two most significant health issues have been a broken arm from a comebacker and pneumonia.
