  1. Bauer has been a good pitcher, but I wouldn't give him the ace label. Career FIP of approx. 4. His last MLB pitch was June 2021, so it will be about 2 years between MLB appearances. He'll be 32 on Jan 17 and I don't want to see any birthday wishes on here. Hard to say how he would do after the layoff, and at an age when pitchers tend to decline. Depends on what kind of conditioning regimen he kept up.
  2. Did you post more stupidity but deleted it this time?
  3. Washington Generals are the worst pro team ever.
  4. They did deny it. Bauer is lying. Surprise.
  5. https://www.pewresearch.org/2010/12/29/how-accurate-are-online-polls/ The error bar on online polls will be very high.
  6. Online poll I presume? A poll without true randomness is meaningless.
  7. For the AAAA bubble guys, it's kinda like a gig economy. A relatively high paying one, though. Not like those Uber drivers.
  8. Hutch is back. I like the Fry signing
  9. Deadline for decision is today, probably late afternoon pacific time zone. I am sure they are working the phones on a trade and this will continue right up to the decision deadline. If no taker, they release him.
  10. I wonder if meeting the criteria for a $230,000/yr MLB pension becomes harder if these option deals were to become commonplace. Might have something to do with it.
  11. This sort of stuff still goes on. Maybe you missed the stuff Gerrit Cole, Trevor Bauer, Harper get up to. Lots of colourful characters in MLB
  12. If it was any good it would still be going
  13. Anyone want Heim or Tyler Stephenson I could move one or the other for a 2023 pick upgrade
  14. At this point I'm planning to make my picks after 11:59 hrs
  15. Nah I wanted to hear ideas. Anyway it's been revised so that autopick is never used. If a pick window is missed, the pick is skipped. If I recall correctly, if a pick is skipped and the owner comes in and wants to make the pick, a commish has to manually add the player. Commish can also manually skip a pick before the 12 hrs is up, if the window is to be halved. A lot of bending over backwards.....
  16. Probably, among others. It's minor detail that gets addressed in ST through reps but it's just another reason, a minor one, to keep Biggio and sign a Pollock.
  17. With Gurriel gone, trading Biggio would give the team no backup 1B, although that's a minor concern obv. I like a bench of Biggio, Espinal, Pollock, and one of Barger, Lukes, Horwitz. This would be 2 LHB and 2 RHB with excellent positional flexibility
  18. I recall this was a topic of discussion several years ago, and there was a chart that used actual MLB data and showed a non-linear relationship between W-L and runs/run differential. There was a skew at the ends. It arose out of a debate over the Jays performance and W-L record in 2015. Essentially all else being equal the wins increment from additional offense is lower than the wins increment from additional defense/pitching. edit - the real world difference is fairly minimal, but more pronounced at the extreme ends, such as the 2015 Jays
  19. I'm thinking the Jays calculus is that defense is generally undervalued by MLB teams - and they are exploiting this inefficiency. Runs saved is one thing, reducing the number of pitches and generally reducing the burden on a team's pitching staff is probably not well accounted for.
  20. Let's hear other opinions. With the pick queue feature there is really is no excuse.
  21. The problem with this is everyone else is waiting 12 hours every time that owner's pick comes up.
