  1. When you think about it, it doesn't seem as far-fetched that Rogers told Beeston to fire AA, Beeston refused and so Rogers decided to get rid of Beeston instead. If true, then Beeston may have in fact left his best move for last given the off season AA has had. s***, am I really taking Beeston's side here, lol.
  2. According to the Elliott article, Reindorf has decided not to file tampering charges against the Blue Jays because of his friendship with Beeston. However, he makes it clear that Rogers did not follow proper protocol - i.e. request permission in writing. It's not hard to believe that this bozo tampered in his attempt to get DD as well. Having said this, the Jays should just pay tampering fines and move on. On the other hand, maybe MLB would step in and mediate a settlement. It's really a gong show from a Blue Jays perspective.
  3. I think it's unlikely out of ST, but a 2nd half bullpen role isn't out of the question since he's on an innings limit anyway. It would be sort of like Sanchez in 2014 - i.e. start at Dunedin, maybe even NH, and move him to the bullpen at around 100 IP. Or something similar.
  4. Yeah, while so many here are concerned with trolling and laughing at some O's forum, they may be missing some bigger issues with respect to this franchise and the way it's run from the very top. The timing couldn't be worse given the off season AA has had. I can't help but wonder if he's been told to stand pat until DD is in place to approve any moves. I know it may seem far-fetched, but at this point, nothing seems to be past this clown.
  5. This seems like a personal thing between this Ed Rogers guy and Beeston. I seem to remember AA thanking Beeston and the Rogers people (Guy Lawrence?) for helping in the courtship and ultimate signing of Russell Martin. No surprise here though, I've always been skeptical of the head of this monster.
  6. Let's be honest here, DD is not being pursued as a team president, he's being pursued to run the baseball dept. The title of team president would just be a way to pretend that it's a promotion. The fact that they were interested in only 2 guys since the beginning and both of these guys are/were GM's tells us that they were looking to get rid of AA. If I were AA, I'd consider resigning, I think he'd get a job somewhere else now with the off season he just had and the way he built, emptied and rebuilt the farm system in 5 years.
  7. I read this earlier today. It just confirms the fear I had since the beginning of this nonsense that the Jays would either overpay to get DD or walk away looking like idiots. The latter part of this is now a sure thing, we'll see if the former comes to fruition.
  8. I said since the beginning this had the look of the lead-up to the Dickey trade when so many where ridiculing the rumours coming out that D'Arnaud and Syndergaard would be involved. Maybe Rogers has already agreed on Hoffman, but Baltimore is holding out for AA as a throw-in so they don't have to search for a new GM. Then Angelos and AA could eat souvlaki all the time together.
  9. I could see Stilson coming back 10 months after the surgery because he's a reliever, but that's assuming there are no setbacks.
  10. I agree and didn't mean to imply otherwise, if I did. I like Gose and think he still has some upside but just his D and speed give him a nice floor. I'd be fine with having kept Gose if AA had been able to find a fix to the 2B problem.
  11. The way I look at the Gose-for-Travis trade is this: Gose + 4-headed-monster at 2B or Pompey + Travis?
  12. They should always be looking to improve the organization, including PD, but so far, the Pitcher Development under this F/O has been pretty decent. Consider the cases of Stroman, Syndergaard, Norris, Graveman, Nolin, Sanchez, Nicolino and I think you should feel more at ease than you do. There's also good stuff being shown by guys in the lower minors, specifically, the strides made by Smoral this past season which could be comparable to Norris's 2nd half in 2013.
  13. Stilson was always an injury concern and unfortunately, the shoulder injury he suffered in college flared up last year. I think he underwent surgery, but hopefully he's able to help the bullpen.
  14. Hutchison, Osuna, TJS.
  15. Very scary. I'm always leery of Jays ownership. I suspect they'll either f*** up the compensation and get Duquette or hire someone else that's worse than Beeston. Anyway, time will tell.
  16. I agree to a large extent. Another thing that I don't like about this whole thing is the rumoured reasoning for wanting to replace Beeston and the roumoured reasoning for targetting Duquette ("cause he has experience working in Canada", etc.) I could see the Jays giving up a decent package to make sure they don't fail in getting their man....just to f*** up a good offseason.
  17. I have a problem with the Blue Jays pursuing Dan Duquette to the extent that they are. I'm even worried about what they'll end up giving up. Angelos is playing hardball to get a better return and what worries me is that the dummies at Rogers may have developed tunnel vision over DD and may get taken to the cleaners. I really don't think DD is worth all this trouble.
  18. Yeah, for sure. I said 'nice trade commodity' in terms of restocking the franchise with some young talent, but keeping him long term would be more likely since this franchise doesn't dig the rebuild thing. So far ahead though. 2015 and 2016 are looking much better than we all thought after the big trades in late 2012. The moves this off season combined with the emergence of Stroman, Hutchison and Pompey has made such a difference.
  19. Also, going back to whether or not Bautista would be re-signed, I think if the team doesn't win in 2015 or 2016, Bautista would be looking to sign with a team that has a legit shot to win. Also, assuming Donaldson continues to put up 4-War seasons in 2015 and 2016, he would be a nice trade commodity.
  20. And who did it during his prime, which is behind him and who is 33 (?). Having said that, if the rumours are true that his price tag could be down to 4 years and 70 to 80M, then of course that's way better than the numbers that were thrown around earlier in the off season. I highly doubt though that Shields or any other FA pitcher would sign with the Jays.
  21. OK....good day...I said 'GOOD DAY'...LOL.
  22. Speaking of Dickey, given the Jays window of contention, would you rather trade Norris and Pompey for a #1 or sign Shields to 4 years and 80M? I know I'd stand pat, but I think some would go for Big Game Shields.
  23. I just think some posters have been ridiculing O's fans a bit too much. It kind of reminds me of the lead-up to the Dickey trade when so many were doing the same at Mets' fans insistence that D'Arnaud and Syndergaard would be included. Anyway, just having a bit of fun.
  24. For sure, which shows we shouldn't fret too much over the team's roster 3 years from now. I would think that if the team doesn't make the playoffs next year, a new F/O will be brought in and possibly a new rebuild or retool would follow.
  25. I guess I'm selling ownership short, haha. Let's hope I'm just paranoid.
