  1. LOL @ everyone here who goes into panic mode after a run is given up. Johnson struggled, but a good LF catches that deep flyball that went for a double in the previous inning. I'm not a big JJ fan, but it's his 2nd start after coming back from an injury. Meanwhile, the O continues to stink.
  2. I expected Johnson to struggle in his 2nd start. If he can go 6 that's great, but 5 is more realistic given that he just came back from an injury.
  3. Did she take the whole thing in? If she did, she's a real gamer.
  4. Yeah, as I said earlier, they can't get past the 7 games under hurdle. They got there several times in May, but then lost 2 in a row or something like that. I just don't see a hot streak with this starting staff. Not to mention that Reyes won't be back for 3 more weeks and Lawrie for another month.
  5. I want to see the Blue Jays give Stroman a real shot as a starter so I'd be against sending him back to the BP in August. Stilson and Carreno are 2 guys that could make the BP stronger so I'd go to either of them before Drabek and Stroman. Drabek and Hutchison need to be sent to AAA when they come back and left there for the remainder of the year season. Call them up in Sept if they want.
  6. It might take a Delabar and I'd do it. Basically you would've turned Thames into Wong.
  7. I think a lot of fans, at least on this forum, have been trying to figure it out too. I said before, if Gibbons wants the L/R/L/R thing going, he should bat Lind 3rd and Rasmus 5th. I'm liking what I'm seeing from Rasmus, he's sprinkled a few hits up the middle, left-centre and he had the double off his brother down the left field line. These are good signs.
  8. Even if they had gone just a few games under .500 in April, they'd have a shot, but to fall 11 games under was the killer. The obvious thing is, they'll need a 7-10 gamer and the other 4 teams in the division to stay aorund 10 games over to keep any glimmer of hope alive. The thing is, even though I have thought the season's been over for 3 weeks, I'm not sure it'll take more than 90 wins to win the East. Anyway, as I said, season's over in my mind, they can't even get past the 7 games under .500 hurdle, every time they get to this point, they stink it up.
  9. No doubt. I really think the team trusted the vetrinness of the players to get themselves ready and didn't push them much in ST and they gave them too little playing time against ML'ers especially. They seemed to run out a lot of the AAAA players all spring. Maybe I'm wrong, like usual, but I really don't think this team was ready to start the year, it was obvious to me during the opening series against the Indians.
  10. There's gotta be another GM who will trade 2 position players for a reliever or is AA the only one? Hopefully there is and they can trade Oliver and maybe Lincoln or Wagner for some kind of prospect. I know a lot of people expect Perez and Wagner to blow up soon, but they both have quality stuff and with Cecil and Loup as lefties, Oliver is really not needed...maybe he can retire and open up one spot.
  11. This team can't get over the 7 games under .500 hurdle, let alone get back to .500 and until they do, I won't get excited. The problem is and has been the starting rotation. Now, Buehrle has put together a good stretch of starts. Dickey had his best start, but it was against a NL opponent. Johnson had a good start on his return, but again, against SF and I'd need to see 3 good starts in a row to proclaim him healthy and back to what we thought he would be. After those 3, even if they continue to pitch well, it's a crapshoot. Morrow isn't even back throwing and I suspect he'll be out for a loooong time, his forearm soreness might be a precursor to more serious problems, I hope this is not the case. So basically, I'm not confident that this team has turned any corner and I will continue with my reverse jinx...season's over bros!
  12. True. I still wouldn't have brought in McGowan in this game. I wouldn't have pinch hit for Kawasaki with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th either. Anyway, season's over anyway.
  13. Not only did Gibbons mess up ph'ing for Kawasaki at the expense of defense, but he brings in McGowan in a tie game in the 10th.
  14. Don't like bringing in McGowan into this situation, hope it works out.
  15. As disappointed as we all are by the team's under-performance, most of us thought this would be a contending team even if we didn't agree with what the team gave up in the trades for what was acquired. Also, if the team were to blow it all up after half a season of going 'all in', how much would this hurt the team's image in terms of attracting FA's which is already a problem? I would think the answer is pretty obvious. I'd be ok with a retool/tweaking. I wouldn't mind JJ and a couple of relievers being traded for close to MLB prospects, preferably a middle IF prospect.
  16. It seems like a surplus of good relief options, maybe trade one or 2 for a position player for a change AA?
  17. I don't have much time to follow the draft, so thanks to those who have been posting scouting reports and mock drafts. Not saying that I love the Bickford pick, but besides the big arm and frame, you have to like the fastball command drills his dad put him through. If he has good command of his fastball, he's ahead of so many other high schoolers even if he doesn't have plus secondary pitches yet.
