So is the Lawrie to 2B move over now? I mean, Izturis was playing 3B and today he played 2B. Lawrie has regressed and maybe he was never going to be anything anyway, but by rushing him from rehab earlier in the season, then moving him to 2B while on his 2nd rehab, the organization opens itself up to criticism.

No doubt in my mind Beeston was heavily involved. Even with that, I blame AA for not getting discounts for the bad contracts he took off the Marlins' hands and for overpaying for not only going after a 38-year old FA-to-be, but for overpaying as well. Anyway....too late.

I'm now hoping for a 2012 type 2nd half to increase the chances of a house cleaning and a higher draft pick for a new regime. Hopefully they'll hire a president who's a baseball man instead of a gong show buffoon.

Well, that was my point, they had something good going, there was no need expedite the process by trading away what was good about the franchise. If they wanted to improve the team, they needed to go out and sign players thru FA. Anyway....too late.

Yet several preferred to trade Marisnick to trading Gose. I know he's taken a step backwards this year, but there's still time for him to improve. Even then, you could make the case that he and Pillar could platoon to provide a cheaper alternative to Cabrera who's the everyday LF right now and making 7/8M. Anyway, the point was that without last offseason trades, the organization would be in pretty good shape as far as the farm was concerned.

Would you feel the same if they still have the prospects they traded away? I agree there's a problem with position players, but if they kept the prospects, you'd have Syndergaard, Sanchez, Nicolino, Nolin, Stroman, Hutchison with Marisnick, D'Arnaud, Gose. Anyway, we're all frustrated.

Doesn't it concern you though that a young player like Lawrie is regressing under this team's nose just like Hill?

Yeah, thanks, I knew that, but I've been wondering about the 8M they supposedly got from the Marlins. JFaS said they're using it against this year's payroll so I figure it means they're paying 111M and using the 8M from the Marlins. Certainly irrelevant for next year's payroll, but was just wondering about it.

So then this year's payroll is more like 110M which also means Buehrle's salary is more like 5M (?). It means that in all likelihood, they'll have to look to plug the holes with cheaper, younger and hopefully better options.

I didn't see the 8M(?) they got from the Marlins so I assume either Beeston is getting it as a bonus at the end of the year or it was phony money and they're too embarrassed to admit to being conned by Loria.
