  1. I think I read somewhere that it also makes sense to rebuild when you have young players just about ready to graduate to MLB and others who are in MLB already taking their lumps. Don't remember where I read this, maybe I dreamt it or something.
  2. Here's an article from Bluebird Banter on the jays' 2014 payroll: http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2013/7/20/4541398/moneyball-eh-the-jays-2014-team-payroll I have to believe they took this into consideration before making the trades. They have to move Janssen in my opinion, it just doesn't make sense to have both Janssen and Santos making 4M each, but this is the Blue Jays so you never know.
  3. Big "if". There's no way they'll rebuild after one year of trading away what would arguably be a top 5 maybe top 3 farm system to go "ALL IN".
  4. Then you'd have to put EE at 3B. It would have to depend on whether you prefer Cabrera over Davis/Bonifacio in LF or Izturis over EE at 3B. Not great options. I think I'd rather have Kawasaki at 2B, Lawrie at 3B, Cabrera in LF and EE/Lind at DH.
  5. So the Buffalo manager said Cabrera wasn't 100%, but the Blue Jays needed him in the lineup. At least he hit well in the minors. I guess we're not too excited to finally see the full starting lineup in action.
  6. A bullpen arm had to go for sure, Wagner just happened to have options. For the millionth time, they need to trade 2-3 relievers and get something useful in return.
  7. Melky Cabrera taken out after going 2/2 tonight maybe being activated for tomorrow's game to save the season? What I'm really interested in is what the roster move will be.
  8. Good thing the Jays have no bad contracts to worry about.
  9. On a more interesting and uplifting note, Hutchison so far tonight: 1IP, 2K...but the question is, can he hit?
  10. So Nicolino is making his AA debut tonight?
  11. I guess some here are worried about that chemistry or something which is rather rich.
  12. You mean misinterpreted by the Spanish-speaking players? I'm sure Buehrle didn't misspeak here, he said what he thought fully aware of what he was saying. I'm actually hoping the lazy media that covers this team actually starts asking questions to management about their evaluations of these players based on Buehrle's comments, but it's probably wishful thinking.
  13. I think if there's one guy on the team who's got the pedigree and credentials to basically tell the truth, it's Buehrle. Gibbons has actually said something very similar to this. I heard him say that either the team starts winning or they're simply not good enough. He probably said it in a joking way with Blair and Hayhurst so no one took him seriously or something which is understandable since he's always goofing around with those 2 as if his team is playing great ball. Anyway, we'll see what happens.
  14. So now we're gonna hear about that again instead of actually dissecting whether or not he's right. How about the media actually look at management and ask the question "did management mis-evaluate 38 year old Dickey, Cabrera off steroids, Johnson's injury risks and how he'd do in the AL east, Morrow's ability to stay healthy, Romero's ability to bounce back, JPA behind the plate, etc"? If this gets the media to ask some of these questions, then it could be a positive.
  15. I'm pretty sure Buehrle said this earlier in the year. I have no problem with him saying it earlier and repeating it now.
  16. I think most here would strike so that AA DOES NOTHING to turn the team around, at least for this year. What do you want the guy to do? Bend over for the 4th time in 12 months? No thank you. I'll strike so that he keeps his pants on.
  17. NVM then, I looked away and just saw the location of the pitch, my bad.
  18. stupid ump, that was ball 2, changes the ab completely.
  19. Arencibia lets that pitch get away and put the tying run in scoring position
  20. Dis Davis just swing on 3-1 or did I miss a strike? Anyway...
  21. Of the 3 players that came up to bat in that spot, I actually felt the most confident in Izturis, he was just frozen by a good pitch sequence. Anyway, not talking about one particular game, it's the whole season and as I said, I have a hard time seeing a Maddon-managed team pulling the stunts this team has pulled over and over.
  22. Hard to expect players to change or improve when they pay no price for their failings, kind of a mirror of society.
  23. Kind of expected the Blue Jays not to score there. I don't think we would see the shenanigans we've seen this year take place under a Joe Maddon or a Terry Francona. Just look at the way Maddon handled that Escobar taunt towards the Jays earlier in the year. Anyway, let's hope they tank some more and get a better draft pick so we can watch them blow it.
