  1. I don't think the issue is with not signing Floyd, I think it's more frustration over missing out on guys like Infante and to the Royals to boot. Hopefully, AA learned from the Indians last year who signed Swisher in January and Bourne in February. We'll have to wait and see.
  2. It's no big deal, but I'll take some credit as I figured him out just by reading 2 posts of his. Meh, it's no big deal. I actually always found his posts amusing and entertaining to some extent.
  3. Because while AA may keep a tight lid on his side, he can't control what the other side does, especially a player agent who'd love to have as many teams as possible interested in his client. It's really no big deal, I'm hoping AA is just being more cautious given last off season and the 3 big (given this year's FA crop) are still out there. As long as they improve the team, it really doesn't matter how long it takes.
  4. You're right, they're just rumors, there may be some truth to them or none at all. Overall, my comment was directed at the apparent lack of pursuit of any FA by the Jays. Maybe they've been in on guys who have signed elsewhere and it was just kept secret, but I'd think we'd at least hear a few rumors linking the Jays to a couple of them. I don't get why the Jays wouldn't have been in on Infante, for example. Again, maybe they were in on him, but I just think it would've come out if they made an offer. I certainly hope AA is looking to FA to improve the team.
  5. Come on, it means the board has hit the big time, lol. Seriously though, I always try to find some entertainment value in posts and I'm sure his posts will add plenty of if to the board.
  6. I've thought about this as well, so I think it's a fair point. If he learned from last winter's moves, that's great, as long as he doesn't develop stage fright. On the other hand, you'd think one lesson learned would be to not give up on FA. One would think that the moves made last off season would help the Jays attract free agents, but they don't seem to be in on any of them.
  7. That's a lot of moves, lol. I'm interested in commenting on the 4th target that AA has called "a long shot". I'd like to guess, and run the risk of jinxing it, that this 4th target is Samardzija since the Cubs are believed to be asking for Stroman, Sanchez +. Well, I'm really hoping AA is referring to this as a long shot that he won't completely shut the door on because he's hoping the Cubs will come back and settle for Nolin+Pillar, hey a man can dream.
  8. LOL, High85 can't be far away, at least he'll counter act him...with his own act.
  9. I can agree that no pitcher trying to build up their value is likely to sign with the Jays, but can we at least get a rumor that the Jays were in on a FA even if said FA signed elsewhere? I mean, we get rumors about Bautista, EE, Rasmus and Stroman/Sanchez being involved in trades, but we're supposed to believe that the Jays are being spurned in complete secrecy? The way I see it is this, where there isn't smoke, there isn't a fire!
  10. The return of raysjays?
  11. It's the right approach to have if you're the Cubs given that they don't have to trade him right now as he's got 2 years of control left. The asking price should drop as time goes by and they are unable to get him to sign an extension that makes sense for them. At the same time, there's always the chance that some GM gives in and meets their asking price in a trade, kind of like the Mets last year. Here's hoping AA learned from last off season.
  12. Hopefully AA is the next one in realizing this.
  13. I would've been devastated if JPA had been traded as I would've lost a 1M bet I had with myself that no team would be willing to give up as much as a bag of balls to pay him 2M. On a more serious note, I'm all in favor of trading anyone as long as you're improving the team, short or long term.
  14. AA keeps going in circles for whatever reason. He traded Aviles, who can play SS and 2B, and Gomes who, it turned out, could really catch and actually hit last year. He then traded both Escobar, and I know he was probably told to release him, and Hech in the Marlins trade. Then he traded D'Arnaud to the Mets. He had also traded Perez to the Astros in July 2012. So basically he has completely destroyed the depth the organization had up the middle and he did it in a span of about 4 months. I guess we could add Marisnick since he's a CF, but they still have Gose. To make matters worse, most of the above-mentioned assets were traded to address the team's starting pitching. So guess what? He has spent this whole off season AGAIN trying to improve the team's starting pitching as well as addressing holes up the middle which he created by trading players who were slated to fill these very positions, gotta love it. What really bothers me is how no one in the media scrutinizes what he has done. Who knows
  15. They can afford it, Montreal will give them the money.
  16. The Yankees should be investigated for framing A-Rod in order to void his contract.
  17. I really hope we find out that AA was in on Infante and was turned down, but let's face it, if the Yanks offered 24/3, the Royals or any other team had to offer 4 years to get him or he would've signed with the Yankees. I guess the one positive is that the Yankees didn't get him.
  18. Infante's too young, AA will sign Ellis. Seriously though, AA has about 10M to spend and he'll throw it at pitching. I hope I'm wrong.
  19. In fairness, most of us were surprised that D'Arnaud was going to the Mets and absolutely shocked that Syndergaard was too. Also, Shark has 2 years of control left and the team may be desperate. Also, D'Arnaud+Syndergaard is a better package than Stroman+Sanchez, imo. Anyway, I doubt this happens, but again, if I were the Cubs, I'd be asking for the same type of package.
  20. Exactly right. Although I wouldn't make either trade.
  21. I certainly hope he doesn't, I'm just saying, given what he gave up for Dickey, I don't think we'd be shocked.
  22. AA already proved willing to part with his top 2 prospects for Dickey so I can see why the Cubs would ask for so much. We'll see what happens.
  23. I hope so as well, but nothing would surprise me after the Dickey trade.
  24. 32/4 or 30/3 may get it done, but it would also push the Jays 2014 payroll close to its reported limit of around 150M. AA might be thinking of getting both a 2B and a SP, but one will probably come cheap in terms of $, but expensive in prospects terms and the other one will cost $$
  25. Too late for me. It's ok though, I blame the Fat Greek for this.
