I've never liked A-Rod, but I have a lot of respect for the way he stayed in shape during his year away and has come back at 39 and been outstanding. The Yankees don't deserve the production he's given them.
The Yankees are first in the AL East at 15-9. A-rod has been a big part of that, coming back after his ******** year-long suspension to put up a 150 wRC+ through the first month. It's looking possible that the $60 million he's owed won't be a complete writeoff. Everything is going better than expected. Better start a pissing match over $6 million.
The Yankees are embarrassing themselves. A-Rod deserves better than this.
Seriously though, I'll give this FO some credit if they pull him from the rotation after beating Kluber. I suspect what will happen is that walking 7/9 will soon lead to a blowout loss, as it tends to do, and only after that happens will he lose is spot.
So I guess the net result of the last couple of moves is a bit of a re-tool:
Iwakuma and Braun out, Betances, Frazier, Meadows, and Matz in. I'm OK with it if I ignore what I gave up for Braun
That seems like kind of a silly argument, but I haven't read their defense of it. Why is the homerun the threshhold at which the metric is descriptive and not predictive? Why can't groundballs be that threshhold?
I think the rest of the forum would prefer that we ban the teenagers who haven't realized that pointing out harmless mistakes is gauche. Looking at you and north here.
