  1. Anyone want to trade me a Paxton-esque SP (or better!) for Romo? His numbers this year are bananas.
  2. Top-notch bullpen, above-average rotation, and plus defense everywhere. The team is very, very good.
  3. Yeah. It is a legitimately excellent team. But excellent teams often need more than one kick at the can to win. Most never do.
  4. It's going to be pretty difficult to not at least make the WC game, and if they do there's a decent chance they face someone like Chris Tillman or Ubaldo. The playoffs will be easy to make.
  5. Victorino = 6.4 fWAR for 39M (3 years) Ross = 1.1 fWAR for 6.1M (2 years) Dempster = 0.5 fWAR for 13.2M (1 year) Uehara = 4.2 fWAR for 8.4M (1 year + option) Gomes = 1 fWAR for 10M (2 years) Napoli = 3.9 fWAR for 8M Drew = 3.4 fWAR for 9.5M Those signings yielded 20.5 fWAR for $94.2M, so they paid $4.6M per win on the market for 20.5 wins over 3 years. That's pretty solid free agent shopping. With no commitments longer than 3 years, IMO that's pretty much an ideal way to use free agency. I'm no big fan of Cherington, but I love how he handled the market at the time.
  6. Best K/BB of his career, 2nd-best xFIP-, tied for the best swinging strike%, 3rd-best ERA-. You can split hairs and debate which seasons of his are the best, but that's not interesting. The point was that he's as good as ever, or close to it. Actually, that wasn't even the point. The point was that reinvented K-Rod is really, really good
  7. Pretty fair for both sides. Paxton has legit upside, but he's 27 in a few months and shouldn't be relied on as more than an SP7 or 8 right now. K-Rod has been absolutely lights out and might be having the best year of his career.
  8. That's dumn. He's been pretty similar to his Coors production of the first 350 PA of the season.
  9. I was just surprised. Hadn't really looked at the numbers, and knew he was off to a hot start his first few games. Thought he was mashing.
  10. Wow, Tulo only has a 98 wRC+ since coming over.
  11. I never use caffeine. Sleep 6/7 hours a night and get through my days with no fatigue. So happy I never developed that addiction.
  12. Can someone link me to the spreadsheet?
  13. Guys, Choo has a 110 wRC+ on the season and 123 since May 1st. He's good again, and not one person has asked about him.
  14. Def. Utley. More pop than Zobrist.
  15. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
  16. His offseason was pretty good. Low-risk short-term deals for (IIRC) Victorino, Dempster, Uehara, Drew, Gomes, and Ross put them over the top. He's been mostly terrible, but he made a lot of good moves to create that 2013 team.
  17. Still willing to sell pieces to help a team win this year: Ethier Choo Turner V-Mart Trumbo Betances Romo Davis Baez Looking for top prospects and a SP or two.
  18. Is getting hit by pitches a skill? Dietrich has now been hit 27 times in 580 career PA. Almost 5% HBP rate lol.
  19. I think boxy ironically posted 'your dumn' on the old forum.
  20. Absent any kind of evidence, that's exactly what Occam's razor would instruct you not to assume. Is there reason to believe it would help him perform? Sure. Is there reason to believe it helps him on a magnitude that it's actually noteworthy when discussing his production as a player? Maybe, but probably not. And so one wouldn't asterisk his career. If they were being reasonable anyway.
  21. Yes. The simplest explanation for his success? That he's really good at baseball. Assuming that Adderall is effecting his performance by something like 10-20% would be irresponsible.
