  1. Saunders is a legit QO candidate if he keeps it up.
  2. I feel like you could get Smoak right now on a 2/10 guarantee, and I'd probably do it.
  3. I don't think we can expect a bounce back big enough to give him actual trade value though. 2.7 fWAR over 719 PA since the surgery, and the K-rate is up 3% this year after going up 6% last year. If, say, the team is a few games under 0.500 at the deadline and the Mets or Yankees indicate that they're willing to take on the contract, I think you have to try to make it happen. If he continues at a ~2-win pace, there's no way we'd want the team to give him 4/80 as a free agent going into 2017, so I don't see why we wouldn't want them to shed the deal if they're not a WS contender.
  4. He has a NTC, but I'm sure he'd be amenable to being moved to certain approved teams. The road to him having actual value is a long one, but it would be nice if he could bring the numbers to a place where his entire contract could be moved for a fringe minor leaguer or something.
  5. If there is a sell, the biggest potential move would be getting rid of Tulo. I don't imagine anyone would take on Martin's 3/60, but there might be a window to give away Tulo's 4/78.
  6. What a steep decline for Jacoby. He was amazing last season, one of the best hitting coaches in recent memory. Now he's terrible. Weird.
  7. Edwin's K-rate still up almost 8% from last year, and if he plays to projections ROS he'll finish with a wRC+ around 120, after four years in a row at 150. He might be costing himself a lot of money.
  8. I'm sure that the only thing wrong with Prince so far is a couple extra swinging bunts.
  9. Because I sorted their roster by fWAR and didn't notice his -0.1 total.
  10. I was agreeing with you. There's no reason to suck for 5 years. I do think a Donaldson trade is worth exploring in the offseason though. In the near future a decision has to be made on whether or not they're going to be the team to give him $200+M. If the answer to that is 'no', his trade value is only dropping over the next two years.
  11. Average EV down almost 3 mph from last year, FB rate down to the career low level of his lost 2014 season, highest O-swing % of his career, lowest contact % of his career. I'm in expert in watching the hitters I own turn into pumpkins, and this all looks very familiar. I'm scared.
  12. Funny enough, I'm pretty sure Braun is the more valuable asset right now, which nobody would have seen coming. Too bad I f***ed that up by trading him for Waino.
  13. Something around Lester and Freeman?
  14. The idea that the Cubs are where they are because they sucked forever is erroneous. They're where they are because they have fantastic management and make great decisions. Look how their key players were acquired: Fowler - acquired via trade for Valbuena and Straily Russell - acquired via trade for Samardzija Rizzo - acquired via trade for Cashner Arrieta - acquired via trade for Feldman Hendricks - acquired via trade for Dempster Rondon - claimed off waivers Heyward - signed Zobrist - signed Lackey - signed Lester - signed Hammel - signed Really it's just Bryant that required a top pick, but overall the team was built meticulously with shrewd trades and smart signings.
  15. Nobody said that. I believe people told you that he doesn't go the other way more often than Edwin, or whoever it was you were saying should be more like Ortiz.
  16. My god, Prince Fielder f***ing sucks. I thought that even if he declined a bit, he'd give me a wRC+ a bit over 100 with lots of RBI and 18+ homers, but he's been terrible. Would never own again.
  17. So Tulo is hurt now? Missed the game.
  18. It's already happening, unless Smoak is sick or hurt. Paredes should never, ever DH over a healthy Smoak, especially coming off an off day.
  19. Paredes over Smoak makes no sense at all. I can tell already that Gibbons' opinion of Paredes is not necessarily grounded in reality, and that this will lead to much annoyance in the coming months.
  20. Smoak must be banged up.
  21. Seems like a pretty fair deal that works for both teams IMHO.
  22. Spittin, just a reminder that two trades need to be updated/processed on the site: To BTS: 2016 MiLB 3rd (58) To Cyborg: Junior Guerra, 2016 MiLB 6th (101) To BTS: 2016 MiLB 3rd (43) To AdamGreenwood: Jon Niese, 2016 MiLB 5th (100)
