I don't think we can expect a bounce back big enough to give him actual trade value though. 2.7 fWAR over 719 PA since the surgery, and the K-rate is up 3% this year after going up 6% last year. If, say, the team is a few games under 0.500 at the deadline and the Mets or Yankees indicate that they're willing to take on the contract, I think you have to try to make it happen. If he continues at a ~2-win pace, there's no way we'd want the team to give him 4/80 as a free agent going into 2017, so I don't see why we wouldn't want them to shed the deal if they're not a WS contender.
