  1. Napoli apparently close to deal with Texas. Maybe Carter signs soon after that?
  2. Sale to Dinger for Urias and De Leon? Weird change of direction for the good doctor.

Any of you folks interested in joining a 28-team sim-league that has been running for 15 years? We're one manager short, and having a hard time finding a replacement. If you really like hockey, and think you might enjoy a sim league, let me know. Cliffs on the league: - Ratings are calculated based on player stats in the last two years. We do our own, and they are imperfect. - We have salaries, and a cap. All contracts are negotiated with one of four GMs who double as 'player agents'. - We use STHS to sim an 82-game schedule, one day at a time, and there are full playoffs. You set your lines and defensive strategies before games, and send them into the league. After every game, a boxscore is published with the stats of the games played. - 8-round annual prospect draft and unlimited farms. It's unlike any league you've played in before, but the commish is amazing, and it works. 15 years running, and many owners have been there since the start.
  4. He does have a 3.77 xFIP and 4.22 FIP (1.3 fWAR) over 36 starts. And he projects as a league-average starter. I think you're underrating him, especially as a guy making the minimum. He's a 1-2 WAR SP making 500k that you can store in the pen until you need him.
  5. The more I watched him, the more optimistic I was that there might be something there. He's not an Andrus-type slap hitter - there's power there. The big question is whether the approach will develop enough to make him a viable fantasy player.
  6. I'd be pretty surprised if they option Loup. He's only the second lefty in the pen, and I think he's better than guys like Floyd and Bolsinger on a per-batter basis. Maybe not a lock, but I don't think they should option him, and I'd be surprised if they do.
  7. Yeah, I'm hoping it was just a case of a rookie being tentative. I'd like to see 10-15 homers and 25 steals this year.
  8. So we have 5 locks for the pen: Osuna, Grilli, Smith, Loup, Howell. Who takes the last two spots? Apparent candidates: Joe Biagini - has options Ryan tepera - has options Danny barnes - has options Matt Dermody - has options Chad Girodo - has options Glenn Sparkman - has to be retained on 25-man or offered back to KC Brett Oberholtzer - no options Mike Bolsinger - no options Jeff Beliveau - no options Bo Schultz - no options Gavin Floyd - on MiLB deal Lucas Harrell - on MiLB deal T.J. House on MiLB deal Assuming they pitch well, the most likely choices are probably Bolsinger and Sparkman.
  9. I'm promoting Tim Anderson to my MLB team.
  10. If everyone debated so intelligently and had such an open mind, this forum would surely grow.
  11. The only time the anthem really feels right to me is in international competition. It just seems so bizarre to have 50k sing the anthem together before a regular season baseball game.
  12. It's so cringey that it's customary for everyone to stand and sing the national anthem before a sporting event. The end of that tradition can't come soon enough. On a related note, Ottawa does this 'Hero's Ridge' thing every Sens game where they give tickets to someone from the military and introduce them on the jumbotron so everyone can give them a standing ovation. s*** like that has no place at sporting events except in exceptional circumstances IMO. /rant
  13. This saves what, 45 seconds every 2-3 games?
  14. Guys, I think Marcus Stroman might be an idiot.
  15. Top offer on Kendrick is a 4th round MiLB pick. A 3rd will get him.
  16. GD, I'm not trading you Kole Calhoun.
  17. There's a decent chance that Smith becomes the second-best arm in the pen this year. He should see lots of high-leverage innings. I really like this signing.
  18. Osuna Grilli Biagini Smith Howell (L) Loup (L) Sparkman/Bolsinger/Floyd That's a deep bullpen.
  19. f*** yes.
  20. As things stand right now: C - Wilson Ramos 1B - Jose Abreu 2B - Cesar Hernandez 3B - Luis Valbuena SS - Tim Anderson CF - Adam Eaton CF - Keon Broxton OF - Kole Calhoun OF - Mark Trumbo CF - Tyler Naquin SP - Carlos Rodon SP - Jake Odorizzi SP - Ian Kennedy SP - Jharel Cotton SP - Scott Kazmir SP - Wei-Yin Chen RP - Cam Bedrosian RP - Pedro Baez RP - Mychal Givens RP - Felipe Rivero Cuts Howie Kendrick Rajai Davis Hyun-Soo Kim Adam Frazier Joe Biagini Brad Ziegler Chad Kuhl Bryan Flynn
  21. Howie Kendrick (eligible at 1B, 2B, 3B, OF) is available for a MiLB upgrade on pick 92.
  22. MiLB 58 to FeatherD for Cesar Hernandez
