  1. Pillar has been so good with that new approach. Gruber92 is a genius.
  2. f*** the booze hounds
  3. They've done a beautiful job trying to extend the window without actually borrowing anything from the future. Letting Price and EE go, trading nothing but useless shitbags from the farm, not offering long term deals in free agency etc... they've clearly prepared for a situation where AA's old as s*** core blows up, and it will be interesting to see the pivot if it happens this year.
  4. Brook Jacoby was hired before the 2015 season. I'll present this without further comment: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2017&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=16,d
  5. This feels weird to type, but Jason Vargas has been absolutely dominant.
  6. If the team does have a down period, the new regime will be crucified by the casuals and media, and AA will be hailed as a hero who never should have been pushed out.
  7. AA got out just in time if all these old guys actually play like old guys this year.
  8. Good job King
  9. Wow, you won't even criticize Smoak. You're such a goddamn professional.
  10. Robert Gsellman maybe isn't an ace?
  11. Smoak, Carrera, Goins, and Saltalamacchia. 4 of the 13 bats don't really belong on an MLB roster, and there aren't even injuries that lead to this. Very frustrating.
  12. Carrera leading off is so bad
  13. The troll accounts I spent all week creating are ready to go and behind 7 proxies. So good luck, and RIP Barry.
  14. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-blue-jays-upcoming-quandary/ Jays win projection dropped to 81-81 and playoffs odds fell from 52% to 26% so far this year according to FG
  15. It's not simple at all. The decision to keep him at his expected price tag (200-250M probably?) is franchise-altering and has no easy answers. You're probably not going to get surplus value on him. But that's not the only consideration. They're very conservative, so I don't think they'll keep him.

Doesn't the half that people don't win typically go to charity?
  17. I guess it depends how bad things get this year in this hypothetical situation that sees them bad enough to justify this kind of thing. If they play as expected and win 80+ games ROS, he obviously stays. If things actually get bad and they finish with a low-70s win total or something, it becomes harder to justify keeping JD for a 2018 run given that a down period will look inevitable if that happens, and a JD trade return gives them a huge head start on turning things around quickly. I guess the other possibly is that they wear their big boy pants and keep their super-elite franchise player long-term.
  18. If the team continues to struggle (and this is a huge if: it's still mid-April) JD trade talk is going to be the MLB story of the next year. A mediocre team can't just let a player of that caliber walk.
  19. I would have waited on you, but I liked this framework more than what we were discussing.
  20. I had been assuming all night that you did after bringing it up earlier.
  21. lol Smoak
  22. BORED. Not connorp.
