Tough call, but I'd sit him. Reds have a formidable offense, and Votto will be all over the short porch in RF. Early start means it should be warm too. Definitely sit.
Surprisingly few inquiries on Brad Hand. Looking for one top-50 prospect.
Ian Kennedy can go for a rosterable prospect, which is a fringe top-100 guy for me.
That thread was June of 2013. Bautista was in his age-32 season with 2.5 years and ~35M left on his deal, + a 14M team option for a 3rd year. He was also in his second consecutive injury-riddled season, and second season in the 135 wRC+ range.
I don't think it was egregious at all to be on the side that thought it was a good time to flip him for the #1 prospect in baseball. Wouldn't really be different from the Sox recent trades of Sale/Eaton/Quintana that have drawn praise from almost everyone.
I hate this. I sat on him for over a year in LoD, then gave up when St. Louis optioned him in favour of Jose Martinez. Now Gregor Blanco is my only CF and Pham has been a top-100 player.
I have a firm offer on Lewis Brinson that I'm considering accepting.
Top-20 prospect who will stick at CF, looks like a 20-20 player, and has a wRC+ over 150 in his career at AAA.
I'm looking for a high-end SP, and am willing to add to Brinson.
There's a lot more parity in this league than there was in DDL almost two years in. First-place team is only 43 games over 0.500, 9th place team is 10 games over 0.500. Multiple playoff spots will be up for grabs in the last two weeks.
I guess with the deadline looming within a month I should make it known that I'm open to selling pretty much any vet on my MLB roster with the likely exceptions of Moustakas, Rodon, and Chris Taylor. Pieces likely to be of interest to contenders:
Yonder Alonso
Logan Morrison
Mark Trumbo
Gerardo Parra
Ian Kennedy
Brad Hand
Mychal Givens
Cam Bedrosian
Kelvin Herrera
It's interesting because he got hot right as the prospect outlets basically gave up on him. Another month of this and the over profile at 22 in AAA looks like a clear top-10 guy again.
