  1. http://www.wbur.org/onlyagame/2018/07/20/military-sports-astore-francona Good read on the increased prevalence of paid patriotism in sports.
  2. Juan Soto is absurd. Like getting in on Pujols on the ground floor, only he’s 19 and plays outfield.
  3. MiLB 3rd gets Leake at this point.
  4. tercet’s gonna need a lot more bills for his “f*** BURLINGTONBANDIT” picture
  5. He hits the ball very hard. I think he's something like a 100-110 wRC+ guy. Which doesn't necessarily play in an everyday role if the defense doesn't improve.
  6. I don't think a pitcher's service clock will (or should) be a consideration when deciding whether SRF should get MLB time down the stretch.
  7. Seems unlikely to turn the defense around next year at 26 years old. I'm kind of hoping there's an offseason trade out there for an intriguing MLB ready pitcher or something.
  8. Curious about what everyone thinks about Hernandez at this point. He's undeniably a talented hitter, but he's not going to provide value on the bases and the defense is bad. He's been about a 1-win player so far in his career, and projections think that's about his level. I'm really not a fan of the overall skill set at this point.
  9. I'd like to package up Dennis Santana for a veteran starter.
  10. I'll be dropping Mike Leake tonight if I don't get any offers on him.
  11. Reid-Foley getting a shot in the rotation would actually make me tune in for some games. I hope they promote him soon.
  12. People just want to see the team go on a sustained run like Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, New York, Boston etc... look poised to do. It's been like 25 years since the Blue Jays have had a healthy organization from top to bottom with a great short- and long- term outlook. If it seems like people 'really like rebuilds', it's because they want to see the team build right from the ground up so that they can become an elite organization over the long term.
  13. That’s one thing he has done: we shouldn’t have any black holes on the 25-man, at least to start next year. There’s a lot of depth, as far as above-replacement level talent goes. The issue is the lack of elite talent.
  14. TBH I didn’t realuze his numbers were back to being respectable until now
  15. He’s still something like a 2-win player over a full season. He’d get 500-600 PA as one of the worst starters on a good team and it wouldn’t be an issue. Unless the defense slips a bit, which could happen at any point.
  16. It’s still pretty much just Pillar, Smoak, and Vlad that a contending team would want starting in 2019, and a bunch of potentially good players you’d want in a reserve role until/unless they establish themselves (Gurriel, Drury, Grichuk, Diaz, Hernandez etc... Weird comment to make.
  17. You like McKinney a lot more than a combo of Roancy Contreras and Gio Gallegos?
  18. Well, mikem said his xwOBA is 0.344. So his trackman profile is insane! (Given his results)
  19. Yeah, I'm starting tow arm to Drury too. Between him having 4 years of control and not 3, and people also talking about a good trackman profile, I feel better about him than I did a couple hours ago.
  20. Would have been fun to track a power arm like Medina or Contreras in the low minors, because we don't have many assets like that. Oh well.
  21. I don't care much for it and would have preferred a package built around the one of the many high-upside arms in the lower minors of their system. Not hard to see McKinney or Drury contributing enough make it a fine deal though.
  22. Good call Grant!
  23. Might be more to it, but those look like the principles.
