  1. My first thought was that this move would have no impact on the 2019 roster, but it wouldn't actually be that surprising if he made the team. If you believe his DIPS and peripherals, he's an MLB level arm that could be useful as the 6th or 7th best arm in the bullpen. On the other hand, he has no options, which isn't what you want from a middle reliever.
  2. I’ll look into your complaint.
  3. Not posting a link.
  4. I agree with this take. Bauer is a massive attention whore.
  5. Well they already have Flowers and just signed McCann.
  6. Looks like I'll only have 4-5 teams included on my LoD draft list.
  7. njh sounds like Tony Hinchcliffe. Also, I liked his addition to the show.
  8. Mariners actively shopping Cano and the 5/120 left on his deal. What's he worth at this point? Maybe 60M?

How many times can the Coyotes give up on highly skilled players in their early 20's and then see them flourish elsewhere before they realize that the problem is with their own development/coaching? Max Domi (23) for two years of Alex Galchenyuk Kyle Turris (22) for David Runblad and a 2nd Dylan Strome (21) and Brendan Perlini (22) for Nick Schmaltz Schmaltz is a good young player, but I think they'll regret not being more patient with Strome.
  10. pacience
  11. When was the last time a a significant NPB pitching import failed? Tanaka, Mikolas, Darvish, Maeda, Ohtani, Hirano, Iwakuma, Uehara etc... were all great deals for the team that signed them. The only recent mistake I can think of was Kaz Makita last year, and he only got a 4M guarantee. I guess Kei Igawa sucked liked 10 years ago? I'd love to see Toronto aggressive on Kikuchi.
  12. The problem with Reyes was never the early years of the contract. It was the last 4 years of s*** that AA kicked down the road before leaving town.
  13. The Marlins trade didn't even have much to do with the team's success in 2015 and 2016: - Johnson left after 2013 with the team getting nothing in return - Bonifacio was traded for cash during the 2013 season - Reyes was an albatross by 2015 and traded as negative value to Colorado for Tulo The team moved hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and player assets, and the only piece of the return that actually helped them make the playoffs was a league-average season from Mark Buehrle in 2015. So I don't really buy the idea that the trade was necessary or that the assets couldn't have been used more effectively elsewhere. AA basically took a bunch of purchasing power, and set it on fire.
  14. Hate? No. I was mocked for saying I wasn't crazy about acquiring Tulo's contract though.
  15. Tulowitzki.
  16. It was a horrible strategy. Free agent contracts are generally bad. Those contracts generally look worse and worse with every year that passes after they're signed. Acquiring those contracts after what is typically the most team-friendly years have already lapsed is not desirable. Paying actual assets to do it is insanity.
  17. No, the Marlins trade didn't work out at all. Bonifacio wasn't worth his money. Johnson wasn't worth his money. Reyes wasn't worth his money and we're still eating s*** for taking him on. The only piece of that deal that earned his keep was Buehrle. It just looks better than it did initially because most of the assets we gave away didn't pan out. But we could have received Johnson, Reyes, Buehrle, and Bonifacio for nothing but a bag of balls, and it still would have been a bad trade.
  18. Guys, for the love of god please no politics in the main. There's a thread with 19k shitposts in the OT section.
  19. Holy f***. I had completely forgotten about most of those names. Dark times.
  20. I think you’re underrating Cron. He’s graded out as an average defender in his career, and his career wRC+ is 111 vs. RHP and 111 vs. LHP.
  21. If you *******s get in a political debate in the main I’m gonna start dropping 24-hour bans, even if this is a s*** thread.
  22. Dude's thighs were just too big.
  23. Almost 0 chance it happens.
  24. Same. This is a legit MVP-level talent entering his age-26 season, and there's nothing of consequence on the books long-term. If you can land a legit 26-year old franchise player for nothing but cash, you do it.
