    So Acuna, who has missed basically two full seasons with leg issues, had a sore heel before last night's game. The team not only allowed him to play a meaningless July game while 15 games under 0.500, they let him start in RF. He's now on the IL with an achilles injury and was in tears after the game. Are we quite sure that mismanagement isn't partly responsible for the unprecedented injuries they've had this year?

    Yeah, I did the numbers on this when it broke and he would have needed a 100M FA deal after his current contract expires, then another 50M or so after that just for investors to break even. I think he sold a bit under $400,000 worth of shares

    Prop bets on single pitches is like the pinnacle of degenerate gambling. I bet jaysblue doesn't even bet on that.

    Not sure Ozuna is a fit unless Santander isn't coming back, but I don't know that character would prevent the team from acquiring him. He had the DV incident awhile back, but he seems extremely popular in Atlanta. I don't think the team would have concerns about clubhouse issues. Maybe fan backlash.

    Honestly though, mismanagement of the Devers situation aside, I don't think this will actually be remembered as a bad trade. Devers is a bad-body DH at 28, and is a very good but not elite hitter. Boston will miss the bat this season, but for 275M or whatever he's still owed I don't think they'll miss him beyond that. If any of the return pieces hit, even better.
