  1. People keep saying this, but SPs tend to have a lot of pride in that role, and I don't think a guy who's been making 30+ effective starts a year is going to accept that he's a reliever now. Someone will pay Bassitt 2/30 or something to bolster their rotation. Maybe more than that.
  2. It's going to be interesting to see how the bullpen is handled There are some choices to make early in the offseason. Locks Hoffman, Varland, Garcia, Rodriguez, Nance (no options) Probables Fisher (has options), Little (options) That's like 7 pretty good arms likely being looked at as MLB guys in 2026 before the offseason even starts, and doesn't include Fluharty who has options as well. That's a lot of bodies, and it creates interesting decisions on a few guys: Possible Cuts - Is Sandlin tendered a contract? Expected 2M arb award and he doesn't really stand out among the current guys. - Tate almost certainly non-tendered. 1.7M arb salary, no options, and sucks - What happens with Burr? He's looked good here and is only expected to make 800K via arb, but he's out of options and his shoulder injury is a big deal. - Bruihl DFA'd at some point this offseason to open up a roster spot? Tough to keep an arm like that around when you can't option him.

  4. I keep looking at King and have no idea what to think: - Stuff+ 96 in 2024 and 99 in 2025 - velo down 1-2 ticks from his NYY days, sitting a hair under 94 - missed over two months with a shoulder issue mid-season, and has a pretty long injury history - he'll have a comp pick attached Is he looking for a long-term deal? A 1-year pillow contract while aiming for a healthy season and to re-enter the market with no comp pick attached?
  5. Two of those would be great. But even if payroll comes in at ~265 again and they let Bo walk, I think they could have a very good offseason with 40M or whatever they'd have to spend: 25M for one of the good SPs Trade for Brandon Lowe for 2B (11.5M) Give Danny Coulombe whatever's left over to add another LHP in the pen if Little is permanently shellshocked
  6. That team would cost about 320M. It would also be the best team in baseball.
  7. Kind of depends on where payroll is going to land. If the Jays are coming in under the second CBT threshold again they have a bit under 40M to spend and I don't think 15M or whatever to Bassitt is the way you use your resources unless it's a January thing and they struck out elsewhere. If Rogers is letting them go to 300 or something than year sure who cares.
  8. You’re right. I mostly just hate pointing to a single play as the reason for the loss. Razor thin series that hinged on a hundred different small plays that went one way and could have gone another
  9. Problem is you don't really want to start the season with two of Scherzer/Berrios/Lauer already in your best 5 starters. Aim higher! Aim for more upside.
  10. Not sure who to trust here: one of the best baserunners of the last decade, or the collective wisdom of Blue Jays fans on the internet
  11. f*** it just embrace the variance and tell Louis Varland he's a five and dive guy now
  12. Yeah, I think they'll definitely be shopping at the top of the FA market, and they probably want to high end guys to push Lauer back to a swingman role who can fill in when injuries hit. With Gausman turning 35 in January and also a free agent after 2026, they'll want someone to pair with Yesavage at the top of the rotation for the next 5 years. It's a weird FA market for SP though, in that there are a lot of options but they all have warts. Like, I'd have a really hard time ranking these guys, and I don't think any are really an ace except maybe Valdez who would be terrible for the vibes: Cease - frontline stuff but gets hit hard more often than a true ace Valdez - kind of a piece of s*** King - stuff doesn't grade as + anymore and has scary shoulder issues Bieber - looks more solid mid-rotation than ace Woodruff - massive injury risk Suarez - has never thrown 160 innings, stuff doesn't match results Kelly - old as dirt Gallen - might suck now?
  13. Kind of weird going into an offseason with no holes in the lineup or bench that have to be addressed. Obviously if you can keep Bo or add another impact bat you do it, but there's no necessity. They have a good 13-man group of bats (with Jimenez really being the only unproven guy if they decide to keep him on roster now that he's out of options. The position player depth doesn't currently extend to the rest of the 40-man, so they'll need to find guys with options who can play at the MLB level. Not sure if anyone in the org fits the bill.
  14. Probably on 26-Man C - Kirk (11.6) 1B - Guerrero Jr. (35.7) 2B/3B/SS - Clement (4.3 - arb2 proj.) 3B/RF - Barger (0.8 - nm) SS - Gimenez (15.2) LF/CF - Lukes (0.8 - nm) CF - Varsho (9.7 - arb3 proj.) RF - Springer (25.0) DH - Santander (18.5) CF - Straw (5.4) C - Heineman (1 - arb1 proj.) 2B/LF - Schneider (0.8 - nm) 2B/SS - Jimenez (no options) 3B/1B - Okamoto (15) SP - Gausman (22.0) SP - Cease (27.0) SP - Yesavage (0.8 - nm) SP - Bieber (16) SP - Ponce (10) RHP - Hoffman (11) RHP - Varland (0.8 - nm) RHP - Garcia (7.5) RHP - Rogers (12.33) RHP - Berrios (18.7) LHP - Lauer (4.4 arb 4 proj.) RHP - Nance (0.8 - nm no options) RHP - Miles (0.8 - nm (RULE V) Rest of 40-Man (option years) RHP - Francis LHP - Fluharty LHP - Macko LHP - Little (0.8 - nm) LHP - Tiedemann RHP - Bloss RHP - Schultz RHP - Bastardo RHP - Estrada RHP - Lee RHP - Fisher (0.8 - nm) C - Valenzuela OF - Loperfido OF - Clase Not on 40-Man RHP - Rodriguez (6.4) 40-Man spots filled: 41 Projected CBT Hit (Thresholds 244M/264M/284M/304M) 26-Man: 277.5M Rest of 40-Man: 3M Rodriguez: 6.4M Pre-Arb Pool + Benefits: 20M Total: 307M
  15. He just assembled a team that was literally an inch from winning the World Series
  16. He's a free agent now. We, hopefully, never have to see him again.
  17. This year is all the evidence you need that in the era of 6 playoff teams in each leagues, you just need to spend and get to the show. Jays willl be back long before 32 years if Rogers keeps flopping their dick on the table financially
  18. Wondering that too. Should be Yamamoto. He had one of the best playoff series I've ever seen. Like Randy Johnson level.
  19. So I had a friend over to watch the game and both of us thought the Jays had won the WS on the groundball in the bottom of the 9th and jumped off the couch shouting. In that moment I knew what it felt like to have my team win a title.
  20. Silver linings: the team played in one of the greatest ALCS and WS of all-time and absolutely nobody saw it coming
  21. Yup. Down for me, and a few friends have said the same. Been like 15 minutes now
