How do you not get at least one good, young major leaguer when you trade a 23-year old on a HoF trajectory? Edit: I guess Gore is in the deal too.

I don't think that Riley contract is going to age well. He's already a bad 3B at 25, and his only real skill is hitting the ball hard. Seems like one-dimensional sluggers with K/BB issues have not had much longevity.

Willing to listen on Carlos Rodon. Would be looking for at least an established MLB bat in return. Could do straight up, or move him for a bat + futures if Rodon is the better player.

Am I missing something with Soto? Just seems like a dime-a-dozen high velo fastball/slider reliever who you wouldn't really trust not to implode in a big spot.

The Mariners aren't close to the worst-run team right now: Rockies, Angels, Reds, Cubs, White Sox, Nationals, D'Backs, Athletics, and Royals are all clearly worse IMO. And you can make a case for at least the Red Sox, Rangers, Twins, Padres, Pirates. Current Mariners are a middle-of-the road org. Maybe a bit above average.
