deGrom is the best pitcher in the world, and I don't see a meaningful difference in health outlook between the two that would start closing the gap for me.

The Padres have a 99.1% win probability right now. Exactly the same as Toronto's in the 5th yesterday.

Game one was entirely Luis Castillo and Andres Munoz. It quite literally does not get less hittable than that, unless you're talking like Spencer Strider or Jake DeGrom. They scored 9 runs in game 2. "the offense failed to score enough against very hittable pitching" is just a bizarre way too characterize the series.

Yeah, Shapiro is basically irreplaceable. Consummate professional who has a deep understanding of the game, and has squeezed a ton of payroll out of Rogers. I think there's basically no chance you'd find another President as competent as him.

Atkins just feels really replaceable. He's obviously built a pretty good team, and he's made some great acquisitions. But he's also been far from perfect at spending the considerable resources at his disposal, and the team feels a bit like they've opened a contention window instead of something completely sustainable. I think Shapiro could defend firing him or keeping him.

How many teams have been eliminated from the playoffs in games in which they had a win probability above 99%? This is one of the worst losses in the history of baseball.

I still can't believe how much playing time he got this year. 433 PA in the regular season and 6 in two playoff games. Weird move from an org that mostly has been serious about winning.

I can't believe Raimel tapia got 400+ PA for this team, then played both playoff games, then actually hit with the season on the line in a 1-run game.
