The management group has a long history of rounding out the roster with terrible options, and 20-year olds with effectively no A+ experience have a long history of not succeeding in the majors (actually, do they? this doesn't even really happen). There is very little chance this works well.

I really don't understand where the idea comes from that a 20-year old with 9 innings in A+ ball is going to be an asset to a major league bullpen. If this works out you're probably looking at a 1-2 runs better than replacement. If it doesn't work out, he gets shelled, costs you a win or so, burns an option year, and the team loses an out-of options guy that could have had his job from the outset. I don't understand why this is even being discussed.

I imagine it's just that the difference in pitch count of an average K is a bit higher than it is for an average BIP, but the difference is offset by fewer BIP turning into outs.

I think guys like West and Guilmet are good bets to be better than Castro and Osuna. I'd expect those kids to get destroyed in the majors this year.

It seems like every league I'm in with Spanky I need him to win a key match down the stretch, and every year he loses that match as part of a late season collapse and 10th place finish.

Roy Halladay pretty much had league-average LD, BABIP, and HR/FB rates. There was nothing unique about the way he got outs: he kept the ball on the ground and had K/BB rates ranging from good to elite
