Meh. Boston is betting on a 27-year old with no history of arm trouble and a ~3.5 xFIP over the last three years. Their analytics guys obviously believe he's a 3.5 ERA guy they can count on for 30 starts a year. If he pitches to his peripherals again this year there's no way you get him for 4/80.
Navarro and his career 78 wRC+ vs. RHP in at DH vs. Tanaka, while Smoak (who is probably 10+ runs better defensively than Edwin at 1B) rides the pine. Goddammit Gibby.
It really is unbelievable how bad he is at his job. I think he has accrued several years of leash with management before he can be fired though. Should provide great entertainment.
