  3. The Matt Harvey trade tree is actually a very sad tale: Late 2013: Harvey for Wieters (Harvey goes down for TJS a few months later and Wieters has played 26 games since the start of 2014) Offseason 2013: Harvey for Braun (after putting up a career 148 wRC+ through his age-29 season, Braun has been in and out of the lineup since with a 108 wRC+ in 645 PA) Offseason 2014: Braun for Wainwright (Wainwright tears his Achilles tendon 4 starts into the season) Boxy leaves all of this mayhem with a mid-prime ace.
  4. The Matt Harvey trade is the gift that keeps on giving. Waino is available.
  5. Bad CF, but probably above average on the corners.
  6. The game has passed us by. I, for one, welcome the new MC powers.

  8. This never happened. He's an extreme flyball pitcher who's not even striking out 7/9 and has command issues. Ernesto Frieri without the elite K-rate. BABIP luck in his first few appearances doesn't change that.
  9. It's only the 3rd blown lead by the pen. Second for Castro, and Cecil has one.
  10. I still don't understand why Castro has been deemed the team's best reliever.
  11. I still don't think Braun for Harvey would have been bad if Ryan Braun were still Ryan Braun, or at least reasonably close. He was only entering his age-30 season at the time of the trade and projections still had him as like a 150 wRC+ guy.
  12. Castro is not good. He might one day be very good, but he's not right now.
  13. DeJesus has a 118 wRC+ vs. RHP in his career, and just 78 vs. LHP. He is a dangerous hitter vs. righties and an abomination vs. LHP. The move to Cecil late with him up in a big spot could not be more obvious. The whining that would have happened here if DeJesus shot one into the gap against Osuna while Cecil stayed in the pen would have crashed the forum.
  14. Deal was an absolute heist. As long as Waino is healthy I won't hurt toooo much from it. f*** though, I expected a lot more from Braun.
  15. I can't believe how many people think Cecil sucks because things haven't gone his way though 5 innings (in which his still has a not-terrible 3.76 xFIP). Guy has been absolute nails for 110+ innings over the last two years.
  16. Oh my god, the GDT. Everyone is furious with Gibby for using Cecil vs. DeJesus in a big spot, because apparently Cecil sucks now.
  17. Maybe not for the next few weeks And yeah, Braun has suuuuuucked. I expected a big April/May from him.
  18. I'm in here talking up Brett Cecil. How does that make me a homer? DeJesus is a platoon player. He's 40% better vs. righties in his career. You obviously bring in your elite lefty reliever to face him late in a big spot. You just have to trust him to get the next out.
  19. You can't just stop trusting Cecil because he has a big ERA after 5 innings. You have to assume that he's still elite. Because there's no reason to think he isn't.
  20. Cecil for DeJesus was the right move. DeJesus mashes righties. The mistake was bringing Castro in.
  21. They need to correct this ASAP. The entire charade has been ridiculous from Day 1.
  22. lmao, keep using Castro in that high leverage role Gibby!
