    NBA Thread

There is no need to start him right away. This team is winning games, it’s about working him into the system and getting this team ready for the second half to secure a top 3 seed and then obviously the playoffs. He will be starting eventually.
  2. Yup. Deferring what’s owed to Tulo would be a disaster.
  3. Id rather get the salary over with in the short term and not put a stranglehold on management when this team is in its contention years. Deferring money is almost always a recipe for disaster.
  4. If they both end up as 8th inning candidates we still win this deal unless Giles completely implodes and we get absolutely nothing for him. In that case we lose but not a crippling deal. As of right now this is a solid deal and we have addded prospect currency and a major league backend option with control to work with.
  5. To the casual fan this looks like a fairly poor deal, considering Giles demotion, Paulino’s Suspension, and Perez control issues for a fan favourite in Osuna. The difference between Giles and Osuna are not that much other than age, but who really gives a s*** about that when both still have 2 years of control and neither figure to be a part of the rebuild other than trade currency. We will still net more assets for Giles at some point and Paulino may soon be ready to step into our rotation as a low cost and moderately decent upside SP. Perez let’s all wait and see, but he is an asset and not a bad one at that. This is a very good trade all things considered.
  6. He captivated an entire city and that flip remains a part of one of the greatest moments in this franchise history. Love or hate the guy, his bat flip will be remembered for years.
  7. Kinda s***** when you can laugh at the death of someone.
  8. Maybe the FO has no intention of retaining Pillar for much longer for several reasons already stated.
  9. Bingo. The front office is doing a phenomenal job of transitioning this team without committing any crippling long term deals. The future looks bright.
  10. I'm going to the Friday game. If anyone wants to meet up before the game for drinks I'm down.
  11. It's considered trolling when you suggest the best SP by a wide margin shouldn't be the one obvious lock for the rotation based on spring training performance.
  12. I was going to respond to this but every variation of my response left me in a difficult position.
  13. Thanks man. I'm taking my time on this for reasons unknown.
  14. Is that the same logic most of society utilizes? Because I'd rather not see my favorite team on the the brink of bankruptcy.
  15. It was a very passable offseason. Not great by any means, but given our roster construction it fits well.
  16. Apparently Trout alone has you second.
  17. Then what's your reason for not?
  18. The playoffs will be easy to make.
  19. For your viewing pleasure: Team Chappy: 2B - Neil Walker 1B - Eric Hosmer CF - Bryce Harper OF - Justin Upton UT - Adrian Gonzalez 3B - Evan Longoria OF - Mark Trumbo C - Derek Norris SS - Starlin Castro BN - Cameron Maybin BN - CJ Cron SP - David Price SP - Adam Wainwright SP - Hishashi Iwakuma SP - Bartolo Colon SP - Rick Porcello SP - Mat Latos SP - James Paxton SP - Matt Cain SP - Matt Wisler RP - Darren O'day RP - Joakim Soria RP - Patrick Neshek RP - Ryan Madson RP - Casey Fien
  20. Smart man.
  21. This all appears to be accurate.
  22. Yup. I like this deal. Shapiro didn't have to do this. I feel like it's a signing to help help the foundation of this team together for a couple more years before his influence on the minors is felt on the big league club. Wouldn't be surprised in the least to hear of a Bautista or EE signing in the next couple weeks.
  23. Seems like a good signing. Keeps Donaldson happy, shows a commitment to the players, and ultimately it's unlikely it costs us anything more than he would have gotten through arbitration.
