  1. If AA doesn't bring back Melky he will have to make a big splash at another position, otherwise the casuals will have their pitch forks out. Probably rightly so.
  2. It's still more likely than not that he will have control problems once he moves to the rotation. Can he overcome it? Absolutely. Is it likely he will in the short term? Probably not. That being said, he needs to be moved to the rotation at the start of next season, either in the bigs or in AAA. This relief role should only be temporary.
  3. Mayberry is a solid acquisition if utilized properly. Platoon him with Lind next season and use him as a PH.
  4. If you are rebuilding then EE is at the top of the trade list. He is NOT someone you rebuild around at this point in his career.
  5. We are not getting Martin. I'm willing to bet AA is ok with Navarro.
  6. I merely brought Stroman up as an example when some were claiming Alvarez blows everyone on our staff away. Anyone with half a brain knows otherwise. Alvarez is a nice young starter but let's not put luck induced results ahead of sheer talent and the unlikeliness of repeating this fairy tale season.
  7. Yeah I'm not eager to rush him at all, but I am intrigued to see him pitch. It's more for my entertainment than anything else.
  8. You might end up with nothing if that's the case.
  9. I can't wait to bump this thread at the end of next season when Alvarez's ERA 'mysteriously' spikes. It will be like no one saw it coming.
  10. I'm aware of that and I still have no issue with it.
  11. I don't see a problem with Norris being a sept callup in the pen.
  12. Omg, AA is going to pickup his option.
  13. Dude, ERA and double plays FTW.
  14. You mean where Stroman pitches in a hitters park and has done exceedingly well, compared to Alvarez who has been crushed beyond words outside of his pitchers paradise home field?
  15. Take a look at the home/road splits. Case closed.
  16. I don't need to believe anything. I'm not going to pretend like I have watched all of his starts like I have for Stroman. I will say this though, if Alvarez is an ace after pitching 150 innings, he should have twice the WAR he does. He is a good pitcher who pitches in a very pitcher friendly ball park, but let's not kid ourselves.
  17. He has the same WAR as Stroman while pitching about 60 innings more.
  18. It's just a quick money grab for the MLB and a way to generate increased interest down the stretch. I doubt they care about the better WC team making it through.
  19. It will be interesting when MLS surpasses the NHL.
  20. The next step has to be 8 teams per league though, unless they go to 6 and the top two teams get a bye, but that could be both good and bad, especially if it messes up the rotation. It will dilute the entire post season, but it has to be significant money for the entire league and that will be tough to ignore. The NBA and NHL are complete jokes with their playoffs and it's going to be a shame when the MLB follows suit.
  21. I don't like the idea of expanded playoff spots, but at the same time I don't understand why the MLB doesn't expand. It would drive up revenues for several teams during the season and also bring in more playoff revenue and ratings.
