  1. Honestly though just get to within two games of the WC and it could get interesting.
  2. If they win 6 or 7 in a row starting tonight then they could be playing meaningful baseball in sept. Obviously a tall task though.
  3. It just doesn't make much sense at all to move either if we are being realistic about the return. If AA plays it smart this winter hopefully he will acquire a couple more players on short term deals even if it requires paying a higher AAV. Come the end of the 2015 season this team is going to have much more payroll flexibility and by the end of 2016 almost every big contract will be off the books except Reyes. AA has an opportunity to keep this team competitive next season and still build towards the future with a younger and cheaper core, let's just hope he has figured things out. His reluctance to deal away any youth the past year is a good sign.
  4. When did Cookie Monster throw out a pitch? Lol.
  5. Fact is we need both for 2015 otherwise AA is going to end up having to sign a similar calibre pitcher to a longer term deal 3-4 years. What's the point of that when Buehrle is a FA at the end of next season and Dickey has a team friendly option? Would you rather commit to a contract like Ubaldo got or just go with one year of Buehrle at a higher AAV? With our younger arms coming up they both fill needs to bridge the gap and we're not committed long term to either of them. Teams will not be lining up to give away top prospects for either of these guys, so they hold move value on this team than trading them away.
  6. I wouldn't trade Dickey. It's unlikely we would get any significant prospects back and considering he is on a team friendly contract and eats innings, he has more value to this team than trading him away. If AA is looking to trade anyone from the rotation it should be Buehrle, but unless he can get someone to take at least $12-14M of his salary, there is probably no point in dealing him either.
  7. AA can't afford to waste payroll on McGowan. He can find better bargains.
  8. We have so few options. I'm expecting AA to resign Melky anyways.
  9. Pompey would be the ideal insurance policy in AAA to start the season. If AA has any intentions of this team actually contending next season he needs to do a better job of building depth in AAA with legitimate talent. Melky/Gose/Bautista would be my ideal OF, although truth be told I wouldn't be opposed to an OF of Reimold/Gose/Bautista if AA actually gets a legitimate 4th OF who can platoon with Gose.
  10. Pompey was actually doing quite well in AA. Not every move is a panic move out of desperation.
  11. Gose will be lucky to be a league average bat. His value will be his D and his speed on the bases. He should be good enough to be our primary CF for the next few years (preferably in a platoon).
  12. It certainly was, but if they are facing a cash flow problem as a result then everyone involved in the purchase should be fired. Companies do stupid things all the time, so anything is possible. I just don't believe payroll will go down until the TV ratings start to plummet.
  13. Sure, but cutting back and potentially losing millions along the way just doesn't make much sense unless Rogers is facing a cash flow crisis.
  14. I don't buy that their investment in Hockey took away funds from the Jays. The Jays are a separate entity that yields profits for Rogers in a variety of ways considering they own the team, stadium, and TV. It wouldn't really make much business sense for them to potentially lose millions in profits because they wanted to all of a sudden penny pinch. In fact their actions signify that they are more than willing to spend, they just need to see results along the way which I believe they have.
  15. If most people are like me, the Jays game is always on but im not always watching, lol.
  16. It's down overall, but let's keep in mind TV ratings are what will make or break payroll. I can't see any way rogers cuts payroll unless AA is just simply unwilling to spend the money. Cutting payroll at this point would be a death sentence.
  17. Who is your LF in that scenario? I do agree with Gose in CF.
  18. I fully agree. This team has s*** the bed and they are on their last straw.
  19. Jays are toast!!!
  20. He should be back Friday.
  21. Can Buck and Tabler ever stop with this Jeter talk? Makes me sick.
