  1. Lol, if I recall correctly, didn't Gibbons say he had a hard time seeing Sierra getting playing time at first?
  2. Simple depth move, nothing more, nothing less.

They need to get franchise players and the draft fit he best way right now. If anything try to acquire more picks.

I don't follow the NBA nearly as much as I used to but for a rebuilding team to trade a draft pick, it would need to be an enormous overpay and I still don't know. That's the one sport where a smart draft pick can literally change a franchise almost immediately. Granted a lot of luck is required in terms of the lottery, but they really should be tanking right now.
  5. Yeah, I really doubt we see any significant FA signing at this point. I bet a trade still happens, how big or small who knows, but I think that's about it.
  6. Your right, The impact won't be as simple as looking at the value of the dollar, since they would have essentially hedged their bets.
  7. I always laugh at people who think those guys are 'experts'.
  8. Soooooo......basically were f***ed. Trading Bautista, Janssen, Santos, and Rasmus(if can't be extended), would have been a great way to cut some payroll, sell an aging vet in Bautista, get rid of two expiring contracts and sell a very good RP in Santos in a f***ed up relief market. All the while potentially getting some younger pieces back and being able to stay competitive by adding a Profar type or something similar.
  9. The thing that bugs me about AA is that I really think there is a very good GM in him. He has his faults but I really believe he was pressured into putting a competitive team on the field last season by Beaston and the higher ups and as a result he s*** the bed. None of last winter really fit with what he was doing.
  10. I would if it meant the organization would eventually be in a position of sustainable contention.
  11. That statement could go both ways. AA could have taken some guys off the table and hence being told they didn't have the pieces. It's hard to imagine AA couldn't easily beat that package and the cost having little impact on this organization.
  12. I'm certain he overvalues his relievers. Part of it I'm sure is because most of the pen other than Santos is cheap, and even then Santos has value. The problem I have is that Janssen is in a walk year and it would be idiotic not to move him considering the great relief depth we have. I just hope his demands don't cost us potential assets for a redundant piece on our roster.
  13. Of course market value. Janssen is a major trade chip considering the prices teams are paying for closers. AA should look to move someone like McGowan. We really don't have much of a place for him considering all the relief options and with Stiltson looking like he will be pushing for a spot soon as well.
  14. I'd rather just gamble with what we have if the cost of Barney is Janssen. I doubt it would take that much to get him however, that's a big overpay.
  15. Yuck, I would.
  16. Considering where this team was when he started and where they are now, we are better off overall.
  17. You assume they would operate in the same manner with a bigger payroll.
  18. What is your rationale for those who can do his job? It's easy to say many can, but reality is few can.
  19. Markets play a significant role. The sad part is when bigger market believe they should play by smaller market rules.
  20. Racist Mod. You have been warned.
  21. There has been plenty of criticism against AA, especially since last winter. I'm curious to see what everyone thinks of AA overall. This includes what he inherited and what he has done with this franchise. Let's consider everything since he took over.
  22. They are headed in the right direction. That being said, I don't really believe a team needs to be that bad to succeed. It's an easy cop out to tank year after year, but to each their own.
  23. For some around here, there is no alternative. Everyone had their own opinion, but I tend to agree with yours. Even a terrible team shouldn't see 5 years of laughable performance and counting.
  24. It's a calculated risk. Tanaka could be a valuable asset or he could be a disaster, no one really knows. He doesn't come with the same regard as Darvish, and even Darvish was a gamble. I have mixed feelings on Tanaka. I would like to see an effort to acquire him, but at the same time, I'm not opposed to dealing Sanchez for the right proven asset if we're saving $30-50M.
  25. He was, but that was his last really good season. They sold at the right time.
