He was my main offseason target. I'm assuming he will draw a lot of interest however so it won't be easy. On a 3 year deal he could stabilize this rotation and allow time for some of our other internal options to mature.
Be aggressive on Lackey. Could be the best target this team needs both based on cost and return. There will be plenty of lesser options available to sort out the fifth spot.
I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to exercise Dickey's option. It's team friendly and given the strength of our offence, he could easily win 15 games next year. Not bad for $12M on a 1 year deal.
Add in the advantage of a returning tulo and that makes our lineup deeper and more dangerous. Even if tulo isn't where he should be offensively, his presence in the lineup plays a big role.
I get that and it a legit concern, but it's a concern that pretty much every team faces. Our ace in the hole is that we can win regardless of who is on the mound due to our lineup.
I feel it should be the other way around. Every team in the AL should fear the Jays. Game 1 with price in the mound and our lineup is about as intimidating as it gets.
If Gibbons reacted to every situation based on stats, he would wreck the pen. I get that this loss was frustrating, but calling anyone into the game at that point still would have had the odds stacked against us.
That's just it, the Yankees lost a chance to gain ground. The Jays still need to win, but given the circumstances surrounding our lineup, I'll take tonight. We have Price tomorrow, so we're in a good position.
