  1. They also didn't commit any significant money to the rotation which will make addressing it much easier.
  2. Well that changes things a bit but we still have Stroman, Estrada and Happ which is a solid group assuming another arm emerges.
  3. I doubt it at this point. Shapiro knows what he is doing. I doubt he hasn't already laid out a game plan to he followed moving forward. Heyward may be someone on his list but I doubt it. At this point all he has to do is patch this up short term and we are in great shape.
  4. This team with a couple solid RP additions (not asking for much here) should be a very dangerous team in 2016. Moving into 2017 we still have another option on Dickey, Stroman is still under control obviously, Estrada is under contract as is Happ. This rotation will be cheap and effective for 2 seasons at least and we have some potentially cheap depth with Hutch, Sanchez, and Osuna as well. Didn't mention Chavez as I don't recall his control/contract status off the top of my head.
  5. At this point I only see a couple mid tier RP signings on tye horizon and maybe a backup catcher if Thole isn't ultimately brought back. Trades are still possible but I think Shiparo wants to hold onto whatever younger assets we still have and focus on the transitional stage moving forward. Some smart money management and he could keep this team competitive for a while Imo.
  6. Yup. We already have plenty of impact players, they all just happen to be positional players with the exception of Stroman. The FO has done a nice job of rounding out the rotation with solid arms that will give this team an opportunity to win most nights given our lineup and solid D. They managed to do this without signing any outlandish contracts that could be devistating long term. Mission accomplished thus far I would say.
  7. What does he have to prove? Unless his career begins when he became Jays president.
  8. At this point given our top 5 arms, I'd expect Revere to be back. Unless a trade is on the horizon, I doubt I'm wrong.
  9. Does Smoak have no value? I feel like this would be a mistake.
  10. All we need is a solid season from Happ and we get great value in the teams wins and loss column with our current lineup. It's not even close to the best FA signing in his relative price zone, but it's still one that works and makes this team better moving forward.
  11. The flag is waiving high. Let some other team give Price a contract that gambles with their franchise future. Shapiro understands we need to win now but is also thinking about the future. He may very well be the guy to keep this team relevant for the next decade with this sound logic.
  12. Given our lineup and the likely hood that we add another 2 solid arms to our pen, the question becomes can the Jays win more often than not with Happ on the mound? From where I stand that's a yes, for that fact and the relatively cost friendly contract, this is looking like a very solid move. No need to break the bank on potentially franchise crippling contracts when we already have the best lineup in baseball and a few cost efficient signings can keep us in contention for the division.
  13. 3/50 for Kuma if that gets him here. Seems like a relative bargain given what a top arm like Price will cost and length of contract. Kuma is still a very good pitcher. Even if he tanks in year 3 this deal is worth it.
  14. 1 year deal probably means $50M.
  15. This lineup with a healthy Tulo likely wrecks more SP than not. A guy like Chavez as a #3 or 4 wins us more games than not.
  16. Or they all get 0. It's way too early to think about that. Priority right now is acquiring assets to get this team into contention status (which they already are). The rotation can be evaluated and addressed throughout the season as necessary.
  17. This team is a contender. Worrying about what happens in October shouldn't be a major factor until July.
  18. Yup. He might now have much of an offensive ceiling but given our powerhouse lineup he is a perfect fit. He provides tremendous value compared to what he costs and you don't simply give up that type of value easily.

    This raptor game is fantastic.
  20. No one wants to hear about that Jay.
  21. Okay makes sense.
  22. Lol what happened here?
  23. Yes I agree. Kuma was next on my list. Both will be tough signs however. We need 1 dependable 2/3 and I'm fine gambling on the 5th SP.
  24. What an idiot.
