  1. Happ is like Star Trek movies
  2. LOL. probably about as scientific.
  3. Cecil so close to returning Loup still good Still tempting to sign him...
  4. White Sox To Release Scott Downs By*Zach Links*[July 3, 2014 at 11:31am CDT] The White Sox have requested waivers on left-hander*Scott Downs*for the purpose of granting him his unconditional release, tweets*Scott Merkin of MLB.com. *The White Sox designated Downs for assignment late last month. Over 23 2/3 innings for the White Sox, Downs recorded a*6.08 ERA with a better-than-usual*8.4 K/9 clip but an alarmingly high 5.7 BB/9 mark. *Still, ERA estimators are kinder to Downs, as he owns a 3.69 FIP, 4.07 xFIP, and 3.96 SIERA. While his 58.5% strand rate is one mark that looks prime for regression, that is also perhaps a reflection of the fact that he has been less than successful in his LOOGY role. On the other hand, Downs has held opposing left-handed hitters to a .225/.309/.367 mark; his real issue has been with righties, who own*a .296/.415/.364 triple-slash against him.
  5. Agree Mets season is shot anyway and he has nothing left to prove in the minors. Mets should keep him up rest of the year no matter what. If he develops in to even a league average bat you're golden (though this seems less likely now). OTOH if it turns out that he can't hit his weight against MLB pitching then you know you need to find another catcher this off season and plan on him being a good defensive backup guy.
  6. Still not sure if Mastro staying or not. Expect roster moves this afternoon.
  7. Started rehab assignment in Buffalo on Monday Have not heard of any setbacks so yeah hopefully next week
  8. For.sure Though in that case we might never have gotten him from Cincinatti. They might have moved Votto to another position instead.
  9. Obviously you need his bat in the lineup every day somehow Against LHP on this road trip I think I'd go Edwin 1B Tolleson RF Bautista DH and Lind bench/PH
  10. LOL Edwin...
  11. . Asked if he’d be willing to spend more time in the outfield if Bautista required a few more days of semi-rest during the road trip, Encarnacion didn’t hesitate. “If (Gibbons) needs me there for a couple days, I can play,” he said. Just don’t put him at third base, where he’s appeared 674 times in 1,163 career games, amassing 114 errors over that span. “I don’t want to play any third base right now,” Encarnacion said with a smirk. “I just want to have my mind chilling, relax, enjoy the game, be happy, having fun.”
  12. Good thing Syndergaard doesn't have to face D'Arnaud in the PCL. LOL
  13. Phillies finally really truly nosediving 2-8 over the last 10. Getting owned by the Marlins every time they play them Now 10.5 games out of first and dead last in the division Is Amado Jr despaired enough to trade Utley or a starter with salary relief?
  14. BTW Yankees officially back under. 500 They need Liners and CC back, but they need an offensive boost possibly even more
  15. Holy s***. Saying a prayer that Orioles get owned against all that good pitching and go 4-8 over that stretch. Cheaply calling this a jinx in 3..2..1..
  16. Yes, but we had two picks top 11 and neither are 16 year old high schoolers. This should boost us more than normal 1 first round pick year where we pick a hifpgh school pitcher and fail,to sign him.
  17. Until we trade 3 of our top 10 prospects, of course
  18. With our top picks signed, are we a sure thing to be a mid tier (10-20) or better farm system again?
  19. Never got over the hump Now they blow wild card games and pennant races on the last day
  20. MLBTR: While he was once thought to be on the Matt Harvey/Zack Wheeler summer promotion track, top prospect Noah Syndergaard now might not even be called up in 2014 at all, manager Terry Collins told reporters yesterday (including Mike Puma of the New York Post). One club source told Puma that team officials have struggled to get a read on Syndergaard, and some feel he would benefit from a full year at Triple-A. Andy Martino of the New York Daily News wrote earlier today that a club official recently told him Syndergaard is “not even on our radar” at this point.
