  1. Plus he already was on a World Series winning team right? One more post season run with Oakland and hang it up. Why not
  2. Does he have any options left??? He'd be great in Buffalo as depth next year but I'm guessing we got him cheap because the Phillies has used them all up? Edit: He is out of options http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/03/out-of-options-2014.html
  3. LOL He made *112 MILLLION* dollars playing a game he purportedly doesn't even like. And can retire at age 35 with decades of the good life in front of him. Why not?
  4. Yet neither off day I guess we had been due for several since we had played more games than just about everybody Sigh. If we were legitimately in to playoff race is might have been beneficial, but...
  5. This is what happens when your mods are almost all dirty/horny guys over age 35/40/50 s***, we might as well just make Spanky a mod now to complete the deal. LOL
  6. Cue AA trading Sanchez and Pompey for him in 3.. 2.. J/K
  7. The Tigers would probably prefer if Justin Verlander was focusing on pitching better right now
  8. Oh she's absolutely beautiful, just doesn't have the model body any more/right now I was never a huge Jennifer Lawrence fan but she is def growing on me
  9. Has anyone mentioned Delabar? Would be sort of sad (but possibly appropriate) if guys like Deabek and Norris are up here for September but Delabar is done for the year
  10. Gardner a single away from the cycle Rasmus a strikeout away from a golden sombrero
  11. It's a lot nicer here from May-Sept than it is in Houston
  12. Exactly. Little else matters. Just let the players decide on the lineup each day, make sure everyone gets to hit leadoff at some point, and whichever reliever thinks "I can get this next guy out" can just run out on to the mound and take over.
  13. "Foreign country" and "higher taxes" get thrown around by Jays apologists as reasons some free agents don't want to come here. (same goes for guys who block trades). As we know, Canada isn't that foreign and it's been shown that Canada/Ontario taxes are not the highest in MLB. More like 8th highest out of 30 teams IIRC. Plus, that gets watered down by being taxed everywhere you travel (This was discussed at length during the RA Dickey extension talks) Bottom line, most realists think that 20 years of losing is the biggest problem. Not the thought of living in Canada for 85 or so days a year or paying higher taxes than you would in Florida. The problem isn't unique to us. Guys don't want to sign with perennial losers like Minnesota or Houston either.
  14. Jeez, if he provides anything to the big club from the 8th round for a $5,000 signing bonus you gotta be happy.
  15. Aren't you like 5'9 and 160 lbs?
  16. Looks like the move to the outfield may have been necessary even if the concussions and catcher position risk weren't an issue
  17. Yeah I read that yesterday. It actually does make sense. But it's probably not enough of a difference maker to bother at this point.
  18. Lind should stop reading
  19. Doesn't matter 20 plus years without even a sniff of the post season is plenty of reason for quality free agents to stay away
  20. Jays were known to be very concerned about his injury history. Concussions, lower body injuries and hand injuries all by the time he got to AAA.
  21. d'Aranud's bat doesn't seem likely to play well in LF. At one point people used terms like "possible middle of the order bat" with regards to him, but that was a long time ago. I guess keeping him healthy is the main priority now. But a career path of "4th outfielder" suddenly seems plausible for him. That's not what the Mets thought they were getting as half the package for their Cy Young winner.
