  1. Colby was the point getter last night for GD, Spanky and lettheballfly +3
  2. Yes he was. There were others too., dozens actually.
  3. Yep Went in to the season with a team everyone knew wasn't quite good enough. Stands pat because he overspent in one off season. Brutal
  4. Had to look this up. They can. But they have to be on the 25 man list handed in before the game. So it can't happen as a late game thing I guess.
  5. If only we were better we could be taking advantage of all this But alas
  6. Erik Boland ‏@eboland11 17m More Cashman: Sabathia to undergo season-ending surgery on right knee July 23. Not the micro fracture surgery, but a "cleanup" procedure
  7. Still no lineup posted
  8. Baseball America chat today: Doug (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada): With Sanchez moving to the pen and possibly being in Toronto's pen soon . What are the chances that Daniel Norris will be in Toronto before the end of the year? Ben Badler: I don't think he's ready, although I'm going to see him again this weekend. Then again, I don't think Sanchez is ready to get big league hitters out either.
  9. More sloppy writing at Fangraphs I presume they mean the rotation has been fine
  10. Sanchez, 2014 late-season help The Trevor Rosenthal experiment, as it were, would see Sanchez join the big club late in the season for help in the bullpen, the only way he could possibly contribute this season. The Blue Jays bullpen has been fine – they rank 16th in baseball in workload and wins above replacement – but a 4.39 ERA for the relief corps, 27th in the league, calls for reinforcements.

  12. And Dickey is going again tonight? This I don't agree with. Everyone is rested. Why?
  13. Rangers Designate Carlos Pena For Assignment By Steve Adams [July 17, 2014 at 4:12pm CDT] The Rangers announced that they have designated first baseman Carlos Pena for assignment. That move, along with yesterday’s trade of Jason Frasor to the Royals, clears 40-man and 25-man roster spots for Geovany Soto and J.P. Arencibia — both of whom will be added to the big league roster. The veteran Pena batted .136/.190/.237 in 63 plate appearances for Texas after having his contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock. The 36-year-old had signed a minor league deal with the Rangers, who have lost first basemen Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland for the season due to injuries. Soto will be activated from the 60-day disabled list and make his season debut for the Rangers sometime in the team’s upcoming three-game series against the Blue Jays. Arencibia, meanwhile, is a bit of an interesting story. The 28-year-old struggled tremendously with the Rangers earlier this season and was outrighted off the 40-man back in May after clearing waivers. However, he’s now picked up some experience at first base with Round Rock, and as Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports (on Twitter), that’s where the Rangers will use him this time around.
  14. Need games to watch I am getting aggravated
  15. And it's one inning, from the bullpen or not
  16. #Rays called up Curt Casali from Triple-A Durham. Wil Myers was moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.
  17. Hot damn the Rangers are having a bad year
  18. It's a gamble, nothing more than that But If Delabar and Santos were having better years, would this have even been comtemplated? I guess that's what has people a bit freaked - why are they doing this? 1. Because the BP needs help (might make some sense but could backfire) 2. Because they think he's MLB ready and want to ease him in to the rotation (seems an odd time to do that - risky) 3. Is this just all some sort of weird posturing to make other GM's think he's more MLB ready than he really is (I don't like that thought somehow) If they are keeping him and grooming him for the major league rotation, I just don't sense from the numbers that he's ready. But they get to see him all the time and we don't.
  19. Mariners, Rays Discussing David Price, Ben Zobrist By Jeff Todd [July 17, 2014 at 2:10pm CDT] Though no deal is imminent, the Mariners have been engaged in ongoing discussions with the Rays regarding lefty David Price and utilityman Ben Zobrist, reports Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter links). Meanwhile, talks have stalled with the Phillies regarding Marlon Byrd. Needless to say, Price and Zobrist both represent potential impact to contenders. Either player could presumably add value to just about every roster in baseball. That holds particularly true for Seattle, which could not only pair Price with current ace Felix Hernandez but would be able to play Zobrist at shortstop, outfield, or even first base.
