  1. Yeah, surprised. Why couldn't they get it done in July??
  2. Oh, I hadn't realized how few homers he's hit. So many hard hit singles and doubles I just assumed there had been a few more home runs.
  3. Rasmus 3 points vs a RHP? Plus he's hot. Obvious choice is obvious.
  4. Sounds like Rangers tried to get Rios before the non-waiver deadline and they're trying again: Rangers Claim Alex Rios; Trade Unlikely by Steve Adams, Aug 8 at 4:51 PM CST 2:45pm: The Rangers are the team that claimed Rios, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News (on Twitter). Grant cautions that claiming Rios and actually striking a deal to acquire the 32-year-old are very different things. 12:58pm: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Alex Rios has been claimed on revocable waivers by an unknown team (Twitter link). 4:51pm: A trade is unlikely to be reached, writes MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. Prior to the deadline, the White Sox were interested in lefty Martin Perez, right-hander Luke Jackson and infielder Rougned Odor, and the Rangers aren't keen on giving up those players in a trade for Rios.
  5. Rollins placed on waivers and cleared: Jimmy Rollins Clears Waivers by Jeff Todd, Aug 8 at 9:29 PM CST Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins has cleared waivers, making him eligible to be traded to any team, reports Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Indications are that Rollins would not waive his no-trade rights, however, Heyman further notes. (Rollins has ten and five rights.)
  6. There will be dozens of these and most will go nowhere but it's interesting nonetheless to see who is still interested in what player. Keep in mind trades made now can be impactful and the players CAN play in the post season for their new team. (Common misconception that they can't)
  7. Yeah. This is just the type of contract you want as a team for a player like this. If he's playing 150 plus games you're paying him well. If he's on the DL all the time you can dump him for peanuts.
  8. MLBTR: Utley is guaranteed $15MM in 2014 and $10MM in 2015 and has a $2MM buyout on his first option. His 2015 salary will rise to $15MM if he spends no more than 15 days on the disabled list due to a specific knee condition. Each option is valued at $15MM and is triggered if Utley reaches 500 plate appearances in the previous season. Should Utley fail to reach 500 plate appearances in any season from 2015-17, the following year's vesting option will become a club option worth between $5MM and $11MM. The specific value of those conditional club options would be based on the number of days he spent on the disabled list the previous season. The deal contains a full no-trade clause, though that is essentially a moot point because he will receive 10-and-5 rights later this month.
  9. The options on this contract are crazy and confusing. He only gets 2 guaranteed years then it's 3 years of options. Depending on how much time he spends on the DL they either pay very well or offer the team cheap buyouts. It's a bit of a gamble for Utley.
  10. Makes we want to cry An AL pennant this year would have helped ease the pain. But because of how crappy Dickey and Johnson have been it's just incredibly painful to think about those three still being in the system.
  11. BTW, Baseball America article on Sanchez, discusses why he was the the one kept of the 3 Lansing guys. Any subscriber willing to cut and paste?? http://ow.ly/2yZzyt
  12. Really cool to see There were like 8,000-10,000 more fans than usual for a Mariners game. Awesome.
  13. Possibly the worst pitching matchup of the year for us (JJ vs Felix) and we win 7-2??? Wow. I like it.
  14. I'll take Lind for today
  15. Yep. Sure is nice to see. And important for decision making this off season.
  16. Bautista today He got robbed last night and will be pissed
  17. There's also an off day on Thursday But 5 games before then. So who starts on Wednesday??
  18. Gotta say - Lawrie's swing looks more smooth and powerful than before, less choppy.
  19. Jays are 7th in MLB for runs scored Team ERA is 29th and that's with the bullpen helping the numbers
  20. Dunno. Izturis has cooled right off. I think it's Colby time. Of course, the lineup isn't really the problem. Dat starting rotation is.
